Will the Gp2x come with a driver to use it with a Windows 98 operating system by usb linkage or is XP the only way to load files onto an SD card without a card reader or internal memory? Anyone heard anything?

Your not actully useing win 98 are you? If you are and cant afford/"get" win xp or a linux distro PM me and I will mail you a linux disto on cd/dvd if you want. People should not be botherd trying to bend backwards to support old obsileat hardware/software, sorry.

Doesn't Ubuntu Linux offer free CD's to anyone who submits a form requesting them?

I'd check for sure, but it seems www.ubuntu-linux.org is down right now.

If the tools you use, Do what you want or need, Why upgrade whether you can afford it or not ?.

Some people and businesses still use Win95, Either because they are used to it, Or it ain`t broke so don`t fix it, Or for the fact that some software they need or use has not been updated or is not supported on a new version of the Operating System.

Or the fact that 98 isn't prone to anywhere near as many problems as XP.

Oh, I have to whole-heartily dissagree with that. I think 98 is junk compared to XP. I had 98 and 98se, and I could never get a stable consistant system out of those, especially se. XP is much better IMO.

eh 98se with the service pack (unofficial) is stable, but I havent used it for years. Im stuck on win 2k..I dont even like it just too lazy to change..you have to factor that in too.

...and there's also the fact that XP takes a hell of a lot more resources than 98. Not everyone can afford new hardware just to satisfy M$ bloatware.

Windows 2000 is the best of both worlds. Its runs on low end hardware and has the stable kernel of windows XP and if you upgrade to sp4 pretty much all the bugs are ironed out now.

and bugger all works on it.

Have you seen the Vista min requirements? Nothing is going to be able to run with that on it! Fancy playing solitaire at 5fps?

sometimes you have the impression that windows gets worse with evry new version...

no, windows 98SE is better than windows 98 ;) (even if they both need fixes for stupid things , like for example he installer who "forgets" important VXDs and DLLs ..)

then millenium is worst than all :p
then 2K is very good , even if it's a bit heavy it's reliable ! :)
tneh XP is quite good in it's PRO version, and not much better than 98SE in it's family or home version , XP PRO is not heavier than 2k but you have to help it a little bit ;)

the thing that scares me is vista, cuz i'm quite sure it can't run on my pc, and it has it's compatibility and openGL problem, so i'll switch to linux if i leave XP i think :p

but what's the deal with GP2X? :D

Hi, I have a laptop with an XP operating system but my desktop is an old Dell Omniplex with Windows98se. My desktop actually spends more time on the floor than on the desk but it still works well enough for storage, some Age of Empires II, and web browsing.

I like the less cluttered feel of windows 98 and the fact that it doesn't have any of the annoying information bubbles that XP has(i'll have to fix that with the registry when I can though).

Eventually our computers will be walking out of the room to fix us pancakes. Blueberry pancakes please. :D

I put up with windows98 and winXP for long enough and got fed up with tweaking and crashes, so I bought a Mac! Never been happier :) :) :) :D

I'm about ready to do the same thing. What would you reccommend for a good used mac? I have an old Mac Plus, but it's not like that thing will ever get me online.....

Right first of all how complicated is putting stuff onto a gp2x, I mean using my dads decent work computer (xp) and with my 98SE I guess this is a noobish question but there is no information on compatability for gp2x on gbax.
I have had emulators runnin on my computer before but I must have found ones were you dont need to put random files in -some place

I had that dll file thing when I tried to install morrowind but dowloading the correct file and putting what for didn't work what should I doub
