I certainly did. I made myself my own computing device. With a soldering iron and a pair of pliers, basically. I would say it's a computer, but then, about 80 % people would not get what it means to make a computer, as opposed to building one ;)

Looks great! I wonder what it'll do and how you'll use it ..

Congratulations Jiri, you are geek of the week. :D

Will it run Mame?

nice, i assume you just strapped some basic logic chips together for an alu, and tacked some kind of memory on the side?

or something slightly higher level, doesn't look like that many chips :D

Sweet project Jiri.

Love how you've etched the game characters into the board. I used to do the same thing when I was on my electronic course but unfortunately the tutor didn't like my creativeness and had me thrown from the course altogether. Some people just don't appreciate true art :(

Look forward to more info on the project :)

Hi,

in reply to your questions, it is meant to be a simple 8-bit computer, roughly equivalent in functionality to a Sinclair ZX Spectrum (TV output, keyboard, etc.) It is not a clone, just somewhat similar. The CPU is an Atmel AVR, instead of a Z80. I wrote more details about the hardware design my latest blog post.

Cheers,

Jiri
