Yeh agreed znes is probly the best emulator ive used!
I've been turning to Snes9X lately, because it's still being updated and has better windows compatibility than Zsnes... I hate the fact that you have to ALT TAB or press escape to get your mouse pointer back :/ that could be just me though :)

Snes9x allows you to play games without the cumbersome graphics packs in SF2 Alpha and Star Ocean. However the netplay in zsnes is better imo. Horses for courses, swings and roundabouts etc :)

Compile the CVS for ZSNES, then you will have the latest verion.

ZSNES has WIP vers which are updated technically,

And I HATE SNES9X with a passion, it's "GUI" is ugly, cumbersome, and it's full screen capibilities are horrid. :(

ZSNES is much more professional, works on EVERYTHING I've tried it on, (from my first PC to my lasT) and runs more games and is easier to setup. Like my favorite lil rom site says. "SNESX9 is like ZSNES' retarded cousin who is chained up in the basement.)

ZSNES is great and plays games faster and better than SNES9x. Its still updated occasionally and has a great linux version as well. (They have a SNES9x port for linux but its just as bad as the windows version). ZSNES also has much better options and is more configurable thats SNES9x.

And ZSNES doesnt require graphics packs for those mentioned games. It did 5 years ago, but then again so did SNES9x.

Which I could just find a laptop in my garage. Anyhoo, I agree with these guys...Znes is definately the better piece of pie.

I like both but I like SNESx9 better because it seems to run faster then Zsnes

but Zsnes also uses same save files as the gp32 emu....
You must be doing something seriously wrong. ZSNES is optimised with loads of ASM, where as most of SNES9x is C++. The only reason SNES9x was choosen for the GP32 ports is because its C++ and not ASM, making it highly portable, but slow in comparision. I can damn near run 2 copies of ZSNES at the same time at full speed on a PC that will barely run SNES9x.

ZSNES supported all the extra effects and features of most of the special SNES chips long before SNES9x did. And has had much longer to fine tune and optimise them.

ZSNES is updated still, though not often because its already as perfect as you can get.

Zsnes also runs Seiken Densetu 3 flawlessly (a good thing in my book). Snes9x scrambles the text. I just think that Snes9x is still worth keeping and I'm not going to delete it. :) Some Jap games I've played just look better in 9x rather than Zsnes. (like Hakkensetsu Pro Baseball '98). Also I've heard that 9x passes the electronics test - not that means jack in game playing terms. I think I would go with zsnes on a low power machine - I had it on a P200 and it worked perfectly well. (9x stuttered a bit and the sound emulation was knackered).

Im pretty sure Seiken Densetsu 3 is one of those games that use the snes high resolution mode (which very few games do) To fix the text in SNES9x, look for an option that says something about 'enabling high res mode' or something similar. If I remember correctly, it still doesnt look as good as it does in ZSNES, but its playable.

At this point in the game, SNES9x and ZSNES are pretty much on equal footing as far as game support. They have both had many years to mature. But if you are looking for a fast, ASM optimised emulator, ZSNES is the winner hands down.

Thanks for that :) but changing from Zsnes to 9x for Seiken Densetsu 3 is well... insane! Zsnes seems to give the graphics a pastel edge to the colours which may just be the graphical hack(?) I'm using or not - I'm not sure, but in 9x the graphics look too bright (maybe just a gamma setting), but bottom line is I'm not changing!

Also I think the Mode 7 is better represented in zsnes, since I got flammie it just blatantly looks better than in 9x (no dodgy white lines)

Pretty easy:
ZSNES is faster (because of ASM core) and pretty complete.

If you have a REAL fast PC (2Ghz+), SNES9x runs smoother than ZSNES (can be seen in all scrolling games :))

So choose the one you like better :)
