Korea opened its markets to Japanese companies way before Play Station was launched. There were several items which were (still are) not allowed to be imported to Korea. Those items are not limited to the products of Japan but products from different nations. But you are right about Korea market being closed to Japanese products(mostly electronics) until early 90's.seriously?, never knew that, thats cool .BESIDES.... back then Gamepark won a licitation from Korean government in order to create the GP32, they are getting money from the government, and may likely still get that money.
Yeah, for a while Play Station was banned in Korea (actaully, since WWII all japanese electronics were banned).
This was to clense them of Japanese culture.
