so we all throw out names of the socs we want but which is the most practical for linux(barring android)? also which soc has best access to the subsystems like video decode, sleep states n stuff?

Since the GNU/Linux and Android/Linux kernels are now the same, shouldn't most things work?

They are? Here is some info from late 2012 https://lwn.net/Articles/514901/ It says mainlining of Android kernel features is not complete.

How is Android run on Pandora? Does it use its own kernel or the Pandora one? Sorry if this is offtopic.

Possibly support for X.org and OpenGL is more of a differentiating feature that we should be looking at?

Also we could eventually use something like hybris https://plus.google.com/108138837678270193032/posts/P2f8bRa9m1M#108138837678270193032/posts/P2f8bRa9m1M

Also of some interest: Exynos 5 A15 soc with Ubuntu beating a Tegra 3 in all tests http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=MTI0NzA
