What Is The Version Of The Omap3 Engineering Sample?

any more surprises for first batchers? multi-core perhaps? built in 3g? hdmi out? ;)
Lol, HDMI out is also on a few people there wish list, but unlike the 256MB upgrade what was possible, the HDMI = a no go. The OMAP3530 has only 2 outputs, the one used on the beagleboard for the Digital out, is used in the Pandora for the LCD. And then you got the component, or composite or whatever it was again.

More then a few people jumped to conclusions when the added board was posted, and showed what looked like a VGA connector ( what it was not :( ).

And its already multi core ( CPU, DSP, GPU < multi core's on a single chip *lol* ;) ).

3G = no way in hell. For any phone connectivity, you end up with safety testing ( see where all those leaked GSM and other devices come from ;) ). And thats a process of long breath ( a faulty test unit, can set back the validation and certification of the device with weeks. Ask MS about that one ;) ).

While it IS true that there is no HDMI support included at chip level it can be included through the USB controller, as seen on the Beagleboard. It would be too expensive and to be worthwhile for how few people want it though.

Beagleboard HDMI (or more correctly DVI-D) is done via TFP410 DVI transmitter chip connected to LCD output pins (as there is no LCD on BB) so no USB involved here. In addition BB rev. C (next year) will have LCD out pins too but it is either or situation, you cannot use lcd out and dvi at the same time.

It'll be a die revision to support 1Ghz+ speeds by default ;)

You are a dev!
Are you joking, or is that true?!

Say it Squidge, i want you to say:" DVI is imposible, s-video is set in stone!" :D

I want DVI and +1 ghz default speed :)

new Die revision new max overclock :D

The multi-core (multi CPU) version of CortexA8 is for the end of next year

Nothing is impossible, but DVI is so close to it as makes no difference. DVI or HDMI or any other video out would require a complete board redesign, as well as several additional expensive parts.

Don't both HDMI and DVI require expensive license agreements and testing?
HDMI, yes. DVI, no.

HDMI is a "secure" connection (yay DRM!), so in order to use it, your whole system has to be checked out by some licensing board to make sure nobody can hijack the delicious HD bitstream that flows through the port. They also require that you pay a per-device licensing fee.

DisplayPort is in the process of replacing DVI, and Mini DisplayPort would probably be the best connector for a portable device. It is very similar to HDMI, but without the fees and certification chicanery. Mini DisplayPort can be directly converted into HDMI, DVI, and VGA.

None of this is relevant, though. There will not be any HD video output on the Pandora.
