What is the testing for every unit..just a power on? or...im not sure...thanks a lot

He is asking how well they test out the units. I hope they check the headphone jack and turn it on to see if there are any screen malfuctions.

Surely it's the manufacturer's job to do the testing. That would be a much more interesting question: What Testing Does GamePark Holdings Do?

Power on, look if the display works correct, mp3 to test the speakers and earphones and then the stick in the test menu of the firmware.

Atleast that is what Evil Dragons does test, if I remember correctly.

Maybe it would be a good idea to test the USB port on...say 30 units? Seems like a lot of people have trouble with it. If you can't find any faulty ones then you can stop testing and conclude that there are no or very few units with faulty USB hardware.

Anyway, I hope you're having fun testing ;)

We just test each feature of it, we have found 45 faulty units so far, the most common problem is screen issues.

I'd rather take extra time testing the units than losing money having them sent back.

Hi Craig,

could you please elaborate about the 'screen issues' ?

Is for example the screen divided into two halves of different contrast enough to declare the console as 'faulty' ?

I've got that fault and I've received my GP2X from you, and if you've sent me also if that fault was present you must be sure is something that the new FW will repair.

Thanks a lot.

Flickering backlight is the main issue.

I understand, but if the different contrast halves won't be cured by the new FW, will you consider the consoles with that fault viable for a substitution ?

Sorry to be so anal, but if I'll have to send you back the console I want to know I'm doing the right thing (I think that is OK for you also).

It's fixed in the 1.01 firmware.

Seems Weirdocollector just tried it himself -- from another thread:

I've just updated using the procedure described by Prodo in the following thread:

http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=22157

Ghosting lines has disappeared, and more important the screen is no more divided in two halves with different contrast (a fault I feared was a HW one) now my screen is fully black
