For those who don't know, rc.local is the last file executed as root before going to the user login prompt, or the graphical manager.

It's usually located in /etc/init.d/ or /etc/rc.d/

When you do some custom commands at system boot, you put your personal tweaks inside it in order not to pollute other config files, and regroup things.

Is there an equivalent on OP ?

Is it possible to include it in next release ? I mean, it's a pretty common/standard file, so it's a must have.

Create your own /etc/rc.local file.

Then do one of the following:

1) In the file "/etc/rcS", remove the exec from line 41 (exec /etc/init.d/rc S) and immediately after add the line "/etc/init.d/rc.local"

2) "sudo ln -s /etc/init.d/rc.local /etc/rc5.d/99rc.local"

Both accomplish basically the same thing.

edit: changed rc3 to rc5.

Thanks.

I'll opt for the second option, but with a slight difference :

I'll add /etc/init.d/rc.local inside /etc/rc5.d/99rc.local

And i'll create /etc/init.d/rc.local

This way, i can use it without trouble in the UNIX way.

Your /etc/rc*.d files aren't all links? They are on my system.

I also made a mistake in saying runlevel 3. It should be rc5.d. Don't know how I got that mixed up. derp. :p

They are links indeed. And i added the 99rc.local file inside rc5.d

Don't want to work with links for ease of "packaging" reasons.

Maybe you should correct your post...

Thanks for the after-sales management ;^)
