But can you actually blame the people for opening a new thread? I mean, sure, he could have seen that post a few days ago, but why can't we tell him in a friendly way, that there was a post recently, and giving him a link to it. You could easily tell by the topic title, what he was looking for, and if you don't want to help him, then just ignore it. I don't see a reason, why people have to come to a thread from which they know, they won't help and which is going to piss them off just to bitch about how anoing that thread is. I myself read every topic, which has a approrpiate title and from which I know i can help or contribute in a constructive way. All other topics get off unread (topics with a title called "help!" for example). And If a topic has come up for the 78533.6th time in a row, I won't look into it. Why can't people use a messageboard the way it's supossed to be used? Opening threads, and discussing stuff? Maybe I'm just beeing idealistic, maybe even anoying, but replies like "use the (fucking) search engine", "dude, you suck!" or "that's been discussed before" (DISCLAIMER:THESE EXPRESSIONS WERE NOT USED IN THIS THREAD (appart from the last one that is), BUT ARE GENERIC REPLIES I READ QUITE OFTEN!), don't contribute to a helpfull and friendly atmosphere. If I were a MOD or ADMIN on this board, many people would have suffered from temp or perm bans (DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT CRITISIZING ANY MODS/ADMINS HERE!) because they just can't be friendly (That's why I am no MOD. Else there would be only a small number of people on these boards).
BTW: I would never promote the search function on these boards, as, well, it plainly sucks.
Damn, this had to go out  .
