They typically run about $80-$100, and may use proprietary drivers that won't run in Linux (or on ARM, at least). I'm sure people will start seriously investigating this once they've got their Pandora.
If you want to get started investigating, I just did a google search for "high definition usb camera"
I search something of like 60 dollar, and with 3 megapixel at least.
i'l search, thanks.
like i said i love taking photos, but only with my beloved gadgets. (Pandora, iPhone 3GS)nikkopt said:borgqueenx said:microsoft prices. digital zoom and 1,3 megapixel for 80 dollar...wow.WizardStan said:Yesborgqueenx said:does a usb camera exists? not a webcam, just a small camera stick thingy i plug into my pandora.

If you are willing to pay $60 for something like that, then you really could buy a simple compact point and shoot camera. They will all suck while taking photos inside (some more than others), but you will get pretty decent results outside. Some even support remote shooting, so you can connect them to a pc (or maybe even the pandora) and control them as a webcam.

I think it'd be great if we could have some community wallpapers that represent the world - visibly, recogniseably. Pyramids and such from egypt, the grand or Bryce canyons, eiffel tower, so on and so forth - something typical or representative of as many countries as possible. I've put up a couple of English/London icons, maybe I can dig out a photo or two from France, but how about everywhere else? What will be a recongiseanle feature of YOUR part of the world - and can you take a "good" photo of it "for the cause"?
Myself and a friend are working on some at the moment, but is there really any interest in one? I looked up an old thread asking for such a thing and the interest level seemed pretty lukewarm, and a little hostile in some cases, iirc...S-r-ex said:BTW, where's Pandora-tan? Any OS or platform with respect for itself needs its own manga mascot....

Can't be bothered hotlinking all the images, so here you go, just added a load of pictures from my camera, taken from late May until a couple of months ago.
Indeed I did, but with a different one. The others are taken with a D5000, that one was with a Photoshop.dflemstr said:http://www.flickr.com/photos/27166788@N08/4146789894/in/set-72157622961087508/

You forgot the 50px margin
The pic with the kite is taken somewhere late August/early September at Birkeland, Norway, way down south. The rest are scattered across these past six-seven months and over the rest of Norway and London.Vlynndar said:S-r-ex, where and when did you take those pictures? The weather looks excellent for gliding!
