Video Glasses

That only accepts input with an iPod cable, you'd have to find one with component input. And one of these to control it: http://www.amazon.com/ONE-FINGER-MOUSE-USB...K/dp/B000BSLTIS

What's in the Box

* iWear® AV920
* Lens cleaning carrying pouch
* Headstrap
* DVD Player Cable
* Composite audio/video cable
* iPod cable for 5th generation iPod (video), iPod classic, iPod nano (3rd generation), and iPod touch.

And an s-video -> composite adapter costs just pennies to make, or a few dollars from a store.
That being said, are you really interested in paying as much for a screen as you did for the Pandora?

I have one, can't wait to have a Pandora to plug it into. I posted a brief review at the end of this thread.

The Myvu Crystal has the same resolution and is a bit less gaudy, and if I know my exchange rates it's a bit less expensive. Although it doesn't provide stereoscopy. Since the Pandora doesn't either, that's probably irrelevant.

The Myvu Crystal can also be modified into a nice one-eye display for wearable computing, which is what I'm going to use with my Pandora :)

EDIT: Almost forgot I could ref this. A nice one-eye display very much like the one that is my avatar.

AFAIK stereoscopy works by sending alternate frames to alternate eyes. The Pandora could do this, it's just a case of the software supporting it.

I was aware of the MyVu products at the time I got my Vuzix. There are two main factors that made me decide on the Vuzix. Firstly the few direct comparisons I read suggested that the quality of the optics in the Vuzix are slightly superior. Secondly there is an official Vuzix forum with an active and friendly community, anyone who owns a GP2X and is a member of these boards knows the value of good community support.

Only problem would be looking into the video screen and walking into things

Which is why you mount a webcam on your head and display what it sees on the HMD.

HMDs will be much more advanced in a couple of years anyway .What I would really like would be a set of normal looking glasses that superimpose a display upon the real world (non-occluded), but right now there's nothing available at a sensible price.

Yeah I posted the myvu alternative because they sell their own adapters for other equipment besides ipods and also because they're lower quality which = cheaper alternative. Still at 130 bucks for their lowest model it's still kinda prohibative.

Maybe with one(2?) of those pocket projectors ripped apart, big shades, and some small optics it might be possible to project an image from the side of your head onto the glasses. You would need to correct the image for the diagonal projection ofcourse, but still would allow you to look through or on the glass depending on an image being shown.

Although there are some that work with laser, i don't know if you want those too close to your eyes. :blink:

Last time I looked they were monochrome (red) and well over $2000.

Not true. See here:

These state of the art video glasses are designed to connect to almost any NTSC or PAL audio/video device with video out capabilities from iPods (up to and including iPod Classic) to portable DVD players and gaming systems.

I have a vague memory of a pair of video glasses that were iPod/iPhone compatible only, but the Vusix ones are not limited in this way.

Why?
Why, why why?
Why do you show me this kind of products. That looks amazing and now I want want.
Although it's bloody expensive! ;-)

I just got a Pico DLP devkit from TI for use with my Beagleboard .. can't wait to get it set up in a dark room and play with it! :)

The video glasses you can buy now for any sort of sane price (i.e. don't cost thousands) aren't really worth it. The field of vision is very low on these devices, so you would presumably only get an image right in front of you. Right now, these things aren't much more than expensive toys. It'll probably be another 5 or 10 years before they are really useful.

Doom or any kind of shooter with those will definitively kick some major ass.
Its like this childhood dream of mine of virtualy being into the game slowly coming to reality.
With the Wii concept + Vision goggles concept + Quality games with crazy graphics ( Crysis someone? ).
* Prays for Next Gen to be THAT kick ass. *

I feel that the adaptation will be pretty harsh though.
I remember the first/last time i felt like puking while playing a video game... It was twisted metal on the ps1.
I had to lay down on the sofa after every 10 minutes of playing.
The camera in this game would fuck any 3d noobie up.

I've always been put off video-glasses by the resolutions involved... somehow I just can't find myself getting excited about a 640x480 display that is supposed to take up the majority of my field of view; even less so the 320x240 ones.

They're undoubtedly cool pieces of tech, but at the moment, I still think they're too young to be useful, personally.

That said, I did briefly use a demo pair of the MyVu ones in the Dixons in Heathrow over Christmas. They didn't produce a bad effect, I must admit, though they did keep sliding off my nose.

Would this be a cool addition to the Pandora? Discuss!

Indeed, the quest for porn anywhere, anytime must be achieved at all costs no matter the risks.

They have a standard version for use with regular composite inputs, shouldn't be a problem with connecting it to the Pandora.

when i was a child i <censored> during a family road trip, while we were all in the car.
