I am trying to make the USB Host (Sprites mod @ http://spritesmods.com/?art=gp2xusb), but I have never soldered wires on pins this small.
I tried soldering many times already, and I cover the adjacent pins, but I can't get the wire to stick or the solder joins two pins at a time  .

I already have a Samsung E810 cable, but I need to solder inside because I want both the USB Host and the TV output.
The cable doesn't have the proper pin alignement for the TV output.

So I need your advice on soldering tips or from anyone who completed this mod successfully.

I have a F-100 MK2 :gp2x.

Go to www.hackaday.com and they have links to tutorials:

Two things that might help get it on there is flux and solder braid. If you put flux on, it will help the solder flow onto everything (given you cleaned the surfaces with electronic components spray first).

After you solder it with the flux on, you can go back with solder braid to, literally, soak up the excess solder.

Thanks for the great ressources, hackaday.com is always excellent.

The solution is to get a soldering iron with a much finer tip then the one I have now.

I did this mod, it worked for a while (it was awesome) but when I used my 2X longer (let's say 2,5 hours straight) my USB port got very hot.. in the end it fried my 2X.. (If I power it on now, I only see the rainbow screen for one milisec, and then it dies immediately)

I know I did the mod as it should, I have experience in soldering. I bought the correct capacitors, I checked the voltages, it didn't leak ground.. but still this happened..

So I just want to say.. I know this mod looks fantastic, but make sure you know EXACTLY what you're doing...

As for your question, I know what solder points you mean, make sure you use a knife to make the surface a bit rougher, solder it. If it stays there, use hot glue.. I did use iron with a small tip, but I had the same problem, when it stays you only have to touch it and it breaks off, that's why you need the hot glue, or you have to solder it straight on the connector like the other guy did..
