Unfair to Intelleco

Here's something that ties into both previous posts: if Rattboi hadn't had released source to Wonderboi, Rlyeh never could have turned it into fWS32.

And the reason is that, programming skills or not, it still takes time to duplicate somebody else's improvements. It's needless duplication... and not releasing the source helps nobody. The small improvements Rattboi mentioned are in a completely different scale to porting the emulator again. Unless, of course, Intellecto never did much work on it. But I personally believe he worked very hard on it, the code base just wasn't easy to speed up. Perhaps somebody else would find it easier.

Hi,
Well, I am grateful for the emu & all, but the real problem is Intellecto's attitude.
If he wasn't looking down on other programmers & completely ignoring the wishes of the original SNES9x team, I would probably have a higher opinion of him.
As it stands, he is acting (was, luckily enough, now that he quit SNES9x developpement, maybe we will have some rest from his over inflated ego) like a complete ass & only deserves my complete lack of respect (at best).
Don't start idolizing an emu author just because he did a good job on an emu. Intellecto is an ass & will remain an ass until he starts showing a bit more decency & modesty.
I personally could not care any less if someone continued his work or not. I am not going to die if I don't get a full-speed SNES emu, I enjoy testing all sorts of emus whether they are fully functional or not. What I cannot stand are little brats like Intellecto - they are the ones ruining it for everybody, along with their groupies.

Those who do nothing always whine on those who do something, it is the way of life.

As I've said before, everyone not happy with the free software available on the GP32 can apply for a full refund.

yea talking money terms (which is pointless so good job) but theres 2 things, the physical and the mental, and the moaning was actually peoples mental "refund", so don't try and deprive them of that

and saying if they were good they could do there own emu doesn't mean anything, its the simple fact he didn't release the source is all that matters, i cant remember the exact reasons but it seemed to be along the line of, noone else would be good enough to pick up the project (which is an insult to other developers) and there was something about people updating it and claiming it for there own or something, which just means he just wants all the glory and doesn't care for the community at all,

he won't release the source because of the small risk of not being able to get extra credit for a project, oh no!! so he prefures to just sit on the source and say no, its more important for me to get all the glory than potentially helping advance snes development for the system, what makes this sound even stupider is that its a port so its not even all his stuff, hes happy to take other peoples code then won't share what he does

now lets all be happy about that

Hi,
speaking of money, Intellecto entered the GP32Spain emu contest (according to his own words) to collect the donations made by SNES enthusiasts.

So in a way, intellecto did sort of 'cheat' the donators, and his supporters by the many 'IT'S FULLSPEED WITH SOUND AND SAVES AND IT CAN CURE CANCER AND SOLVE WORLD HUNGER!' type promises... And yeah, he does seem a bit 'egotistical' (I don't want to release the source cause someone else will just brand a different logo on it and call it theirs) which has happened....oh....NO times in the GP32 scene to date.

But has happened in the larger PC emu scene.

This is still no reason for withholding the code, imo. He hasn't CREATED much; the majority of the work had already been done by someone else. Someone good enough to giveaway their source code.

Maybe once or maybe two times. It would be great if someone (zodiac jones or Intelleco) released the source of the're snes emulator. I don't need a full speed Mario Kart i don't need to play breath of fire while the're a GBA version but i want to play Chrono Triger, Lufia (without random dungeons) and other great rpg's :D.
20 FPS will be more than enough for me 20 fps at frame skip 3 with sound. I know i can be done on the GP32, i know, i know it but why doesn't it hapends?
The genis runs almost full speed without frame skip and it's a lot harder to emulate.

We have a almost perfect SNES emu aviable (snesemu (zodiac jones)) but because zodiac jones decide he want to keep te source private save/sound support will never be added.
We have a almost perfect SNES emu aviable (snes9x (Intelleco)) but because Intelleco decide he want to keep te source private his emu will never get 20 fps.

Why? Why? Why?
Why can't they just give the source to a GP32 coder? Or releaseed it to the public?

Don't say nonsenses. There are conditional donations for a full speed snes emulator and snes9x isn't and the other donations were made a long time before Intelecto entered the contest.

If Intelecto thought in the past to release the snes9x source after reading this and other posts that insult him (and surely receiving flaming e-mails) now I can understand why he don't want to release the source code. I'll do the same.

well i don't agree with personal targeted flames, by email etc, but thats completely different from random moaning on a open discusion forum, hes not forced to read anything here, but direct stuff to him is just wrong

but anyway, most of the insults came after he made it clear he wasn't going to release the source, so u can't give him that credit, and if he did turn around now and say actually i was going to but now i won't, that would clearly be a lie

There is a fine line between being disappointed and verbally bashing someone. In another topic with a name that doesnt seem to come to mind had people bashing the author, thats no way to treat someone just for not releasing sources. Yeah the emulator was a bit overhyped, but its partly your fault too for verifying its speed before even trying it out.

Hi
Quoting directly Intellecto (http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=3082&st=60):

Ah... does that say money... then its settled, I'll enter the next version.
It doesn't say if you can release it before you enter it or not... do you
know if you can? Oh, never mind... I see I can release it after I send it. Thanks for the
info.

Now I understand that one could be motivated to enter the contest to win the money, but I would assume that there should visible progress on the emu (like a dir structure, significant speed increase, new options...). Thankfully the donations are conditional, but that doesn't mean that the "new" release is not a shame. This was obviously done for the quick buck (or rather hope of the quick buck).

A600: I most definitely appreciate all the work you have done on GP32, but when it comes to Intellecto, whether his emu is a good one or not doesn't mean his contempt for other coders should be appreciated.

He created the last version for the contest mainly so that he could win some cash, but I don't think he is going to win anything. His emu isn't as good as people hoped, and I don't think it will be chosen as the winner. He shouldn't plan on winning the contest...
