Hi,
just want to ask if someone got this working..
long time ago i think it was tried but they didnt get it to work, so whats today?

It's not possible without a hell of a lot of work, but GamePark gave fx-man a VGA out adapter, they promised to send the schematics, but it is gamepark...

Sounds interesting, that adapter...

very

Wont it look shit on a TV anyway??? Games are made to fit the GP32's 3.5" screen or something, so Imagine them Blown up onto a 15" portable TV, then imagine it blown up onto a 28" Windscreen to a 48" +

No. Did the megadrive(genesis) "look like shit on a TV"?

Maybe it'll "look like shit" if you sit 5 inches away from the TV or however far away you would from a handheld.

yea but the mega drive was designed to be played on a TV

I saw that adapter. It's like 80 wires coming out of the bottom of where the screen is. Its ugly³, and probably very hard to install.

So was GP32, it's LCD screen is the same that is used in many portable TV and it's resolution is no different from megadrive (actually it's a little bigger, no slight letterbox).

I would like this tv-out, but I don't want to disassemble my GP32. Especially since it seems like once you do this mod, you can't use the LCD until you mod it again, back to the way it was.

Now... what about sound? How would the sound be on a TV?

And about the video on TV crappyness issue, no the picture would be fine. The resolution that most console game systems use (even the newer generation ones!) is around 320x240. It'd look like a SNES or something.
*waits for obigatory guy who goes "snes has crappy graphics!"* :p

Don't forget a GBA to TV device was made, so a similar device for GP32 could easily be made, with the only problem being demand (or lack thereof) for such a device.

Here's a picture of the GBA adapter, for those who don't know wtf:

Fabre: But you had to remove back GBA housing to get it working. Much better option IMHO is GB/A Player for GameCube ... it shows GB/GBA games on TV without any hassle ... :)

Rik, firstly if a TV is receiving a lower resolution picture (correct me if I'm wrong) blends pixels together, also you sit far away. Most consoles look better on a TV than a PC monitor where the pixels are simply stretched (unless you make them blend...).

Well, with the only problem that they stutter. No VSync. Scrolling looks really ugly.
My laptop does it much better than the stupid player.
Even my PS2 and DC can do that better.

(Well, I just do know the official Nintendo one. Don't know if the unofficial ones are better)

If it didn't vsync then you wouldn't be able to see it on a normal TV properly at all. I suspect the problem might be it dropping every nth frame to fit it to 50hz instead of clocking the game to match the required frequency like older consoles did. I have the GBP and can't notice much stutter on 60hz mode. But still, it's not perfect, but that could be down to the game itself.

I didn't mean the hardware vsync that comes out of the GC (of course this has all the needed syncs ;))

Though HSync and VSync are only used on computer monitors and arcade monitors, not on TVs. They only have one sync signal, but back to what I meant with that:
It doesn't EMULATE the vsync of the GBA... (this leads to the typical effect in scrolling, where the upper area of the screen is not in sync with the lower area of the screen.

I suspect the problem might be it dropping every nth frame to fit it to 50hz instead of clocking the game to match the required frequency like older consoles did.

This may also be a problem - that's why I switch my computer to 60Hz when playing. But if someone like NINTENDO sells this thing in Germany, they SURELY need to find fix for that before releasing!

Someone should just come up with a way to use the GP32's USB to hook into the PS2's USB, sort of like a plug-mod. And maybe make it possible to use a PS2 controller.

The GP32 uses USB 1.1 - which is by far to slow to send video data...
