Well, I hope that number was not important...

Seriously, this just rubbed right off after normal use ... I even keep it in a special, soft fabric case!
I wonder if that number meant anything?
 
my Caanoo looks the same since a while. the serial number can be read from the device directly using the software, so i guess you don't have to worry about it :)

same problem here, as u can see.
The internal serial number is not the same as printed on the outside.
But on the backside of the retailbox the serial is printed under the "Made in Korea".

Has been discussed in the german forums.

I had noticed that it was different from the internal ID number as well, thats what bothered me originally. I didn't realize it was also on the box ... thanks for that info!

This is fairly common with a lot of products.
Same thing happened on my Eeepc and HP laptop.

Old caustic mits, they call me.
 
Using the jelly case protects the serial number but that doesn't help if it's already gone.
