A while back I took a gander at tempest 3000, impressive game with a crazy up beat techno soundtrack. Check this youtube video of the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS9alQbHHPk . Anyhow I did a bit of research for a linux emulator, sadly theres only a windows version of the nuon. A bit of heavier research for the author of the emulator & turns out the guy Mike Perry died. His father & Skah T from the NUON dome website are willing to release whatever the author has left behind from the emulator.

Anyone care to port this & continue improvement on the pandora can contact Skah T.

I haven't looked into NUON, but just from that thread comparing it to Cell I can gather that it's really powerful, and anything but a seriously optimized emulator would be quite slow on a PC.

The readme confirms this:

"The emulator is completely and utterly CPU bound. An Athlon XP2600+ is recommended as a bare minimum. Even with a 2.0 ghz processor, frame rates in the commercial games will count in the low single digits... in binary. Machines that do not meet the minimum requirements may even suffer reduced performance when running the less demanding SDK demos."

There you have it, 1fps on a 2GHz AthlonXP. I wouldn't expect it to be done on Pandora.

Really sad what happened to the guy though. :(
