The Free Software Foundation needs our help

Damn, @Null we're not gonna start this, are we? 'Cause it could hurt you too.

I mean, you're probably already aware that a certain loved one of yours isn't generally accepted as, you know, existing. You'd better hope everything has a soul.

We'll cope.

You'd better hope everything has a soul.

I don't believe in souls.

No response yet. I hope Peony didn't take control and slice him up.

Impatient much? How long did it take you to think of that one btw? It would have taken me absolutely ages, but then I am a productive member of society with agency over my life, so I can't sit around all day thinking up hilarious quips I'm afraid.

Where is Aziz when you need him? Aziz, light!

pantheism? Don't agree with that. What I do agree is that every matter has a "song".
The word I heard for it was animism. And to be fair, not everything has a full soul like humans, it depends on how invested it is in physical reality. Rocks don't do much, so they don't have much of their soul here, it's mostly on the other side. Humans, on the other hand, are like 100% here. Animals are 90% here, they can still see spirits and stuff.
Post automatically merged:

I hear small children can see spirits too, before they start speaking. Speaking sort of breaks any remaining attachment they had to the other side.

I mean, have you noticed that the better you take care of a machine, the longer it lasts? They're much like lifeforms in that way.

This even applies to software. AIs should get regularly scheduled maintenance and downtime, or else they'll go loopy.

Thanks everybody for your help towards the FSF and towards destroying this thread.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I wouldn't know how to help other than raising awareness of what's happening, which you did in the first thread.
I don't know that much about RMS, but was baffeled, that he should be such a bad guy to warrent shunning him on a public scale. So I followed the link you gave and further to find out. ... that there's nothing but missreadings unworthy of everyone with the mathematical/linguistical background required of any scientist or engineer, or FOSS coder for that matter.
So to me, what's happening is, organisations lacking qualified leadership showing their colours. Ain't that a useful phenomenon?
The question now would be, how to help repair those organisations. ? I call for mass cancellings to make room for educated/qualified people.

@Linux-SWAT - sorry to have lost focus. This is a cause worth fighting for.

I am ready to defend myself against being labelled a misogynist for supporting FOSS, which is what is happening. It's not too dissimilar from being labelled a terrorist or criminal for using encryption. A bit more emotional this round.

It's just so ironic because sharing - a generous form of inclusion - is a founding principle of networked computing. No one cared if you were a dog, and it was true. I remember when hackers were all weirdos, and that's why I wanted to be one. Hacker culture has become homogenized, diluted and bland because all sorts of people swarm to tech because of the money. Alas, the hacker ethos is no longer central.

RMS espouses the ideologies that made computers exciting, creative and limitless. His outspokenness - which has has benefited the world immeasurably - is now being turned against him by selfish individuals.

Now we see the original democratic nature of the the internet hijacked. Everyone has a say but there is increased scare mongering for certain points of views (as seen on this thread, even). Let there be no doubt: it is censorship and marginalization of peoples wills. A loss of freedom and increase in inequality. To voice your opinion these days you need a strong catalyst. Often it is bitterness, hatred, envy and above all selfishness. Emotional and selfish individuals - not rational ones - are being heard disproportionately. People and organizations are afraid of the repercussions of supporting RMS. If we believe he is the right leader and the allegations are immaterial we must support him.

It is our right have our opinions heard without fear of repercussion. Never forget.

RMS is a pioneering intellect, and principled. His subversive views are what made FOSS and the GPL so successful. And he has the guts to talk to girls. Maybe he's no Don Juan. Shall we hang him for that?

Signing this seems like a good idea: https://rms-support-letter.github.io/

Have a nice Sunday.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. I'm generally in agreement with Voltaire who reportedly said he disagreed vehemently with a position, but would defend to the death the right for it to be heard. But if you say something silly I'd at least expect someone to disagree with you, which can be consided a type of repercussion.

An other act of left-wing liberalist extremist act of suppression of free speech.
Everyone who is not "political correct" in their opinion will be suppressed and shut down.
I do not understand why so many people are supporting these anti democratic extremists.
