The Argument Shed

The red arrows were flying around our school... We were hoping they were red arrows and not hijacked Al Qaeda planes...

Al Qaeda have admitted apparently

it was going to happen

i can see the death toll peaking at over fifty.

hard to see where Blair could go from here, putting aside the justness of Iraq, invasion in afghanistan and iraq have failed to really change anything, 9/11, Bali, Madrid, now London, the list could just go on and on.

Blind hatred and fighting/hating everything that the man stands for or tries to do (Michael Moore comes to mind) I think could be construed as unpatriotic.

Read the whole sentence, and you'll see I most certainly didn't. Regardless, I'm not debating any longer as nothing is being gained from it. This is a terrible event that has occurred, and a discussion of it should not incite a fight between individuals from two good, free nations.

But the fact is that he doesn't hate him for no reason. He didn't hate Clinton, he doesn't hate alot of Republican Congressmen-he hates Bush because of his views.

But yeah, there's no point in arguing.

KickinWing, Terror is indeed a thing... It's an abstract noun, meaning it's something that exists, but it can't be touched. It's a word used to describe a specific kind of feeling... but it's still a noun... and you definitely can't fight it. And besides, like someone else said, there's no way to get rid of all terrorists. Someone will always fight in the place of every one that's killed.

And as far as the patriot act is concerned... It's stupid, and they're just using tragic events to convince people that we need to have "better security" by imposing new laws that take away some of our freedoms. That's bullshit. It violates the constitution. In the words of Ben Franklin, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

And I don't really care who's being detained or why... you don't go treating people like they're not even people just because you don't like them and are fighting a war against them.

how old are you Magus? do you work, own a home, have a family? I do and the patriot act has not affected me in any way, how has it PERSONALLY affected you? Are you one of the people that complains because they have to get to the airport an hour earlier than usual for security checkpoints that are making it safer for everyone to fly?

As for the people in Cuba, are you all crazy? These people are terrorist, captured in camps for training terrorist etc. They are not random arab people we just decided to put there. I think they're damn lucky enough to be alive let alone have a trial.

And this quote "And I don't really care who's being detained or why... you don't go treating people like they're not even people just because you don't like them and are fighting a war against them." has got to be the stupidest thing i've ever heard. Like i said above, these are not normal people being held for no reason. And i agree, they should be treated a certain way. Lets kill their children, husbands, fathers, mothers, etc. and then see how they like it.

from what i've read, they had interviewed someone on a bus in front of the one that exploded and said it was packed...how many people can normally fit on one of those buses?

You keep saying they are terrorists. If the US was so sure they would be brought to trial. And killing their families? Two wrongs don't make a right.

A ton. We have rather poor public transport here in the UK, and on a standard bus here in Stoke you'll have 45 people sitting down and sometimes another 15 or so standing up all down the aisle, and that's just a single decker. Double deckers like that I say could hold 120+ easily.

ok about the trial thing, but lets see. Hmm, where were the people captured, umm, they were captured either shooting at our soldiers defending their camps, or at their camps, etc. etc. Like i've said before, they weren't random people we picked up off the street.

As for the bus thing. OMG, i knew those things were big, but i had no idea they held that many people.

They're not designed to, but they sometimes get packed beyond belief. I've seen one double decker around here with people standing on the stairs.

The upstairs is surprisngly pick.

EDIT: Pick? Big.

Bush is an arrogant, stupid, Jesus freak, asshole that has absolutely no grasp of reality and the way things work. He lives and operates from dreamland. I am ashamed to have him as our president (I didn't vote for him) and he is partly to blame for this tragedy.

As far as Michael Moore whether you like him or not some of the things ARE true that he says and at least he has the balls to stand up against Bush. Everyone else in the media here seems to be scared of Bush and the religeous zealots thet support him. So I am glad at least SOMEONE shows the other side.

This problem is also the fault of the religeous nuts that think they are pleasing some supernatural being like Allah for doing it. It is so crazy and stupid. What the hell is WRONG with people?

better in terms of the city should be celebrating its olympic success.

though the G8 will go ahead this will overshadow it and allow the issues of africa and the global climate to slip down the spectrum of importance with greater ease.
