Sqdef, My Tower-defense Game

well I guess the levels should be scrollable, or am I wrong? That would solve the levelsize/zoomfactor problem quite easily. I would also go with larger tiles, or with a nice ingame zoom function to zoom in and out.

Thanks for all your responses. I'll stick with the larger tiles for now.

There is no scrolling. I want to try a single-screen version of this genre, as there's already one that scrolls. That can be changed at any time in the future though, but for now I'll go this way. Thanks again for the feedback!

well, I think scrolling would be a nice feature. Also, people can then choose if they just want to play a one screen level or a scrollable one. Maybe you could even implement a one-screen level play-mode or something.

DROD has got a nice zoom function, works very good. If it is easy to implement it could be a way to have bigger maps and pleasing the eye.

Personally i think this game would be very difficult to play with scrolling maps. You really need to see everything at once.
I was talking about the Zoom function of DROD. That's not a scrolling method. I'm not sure if it is usable or wanted for Sqdef, but it works great in DROD and could be usefull.

i concer (<--- is that right? i cant spell, i was trying too sound intelligent, damm my dislexia)

anyway back to topic hand i agree it should be a fixed view, no scrolling or zooming, i find the srolling in the over td game for the 2x rather irritating at times (plus its to easy)

alex: how far away do you feel you are from having a beta release?

Thanks for the kind words.

The beta will be private, cause I'll submit it for Gbax07. I'm working on the last details before the first demo is ready. I don't want to rush it though, what good is a demo if it isn't any fun? :)

I didn't decide on any music yet. I might go for some mod music as that's pretty cpu-friendly. I also thought of allowing the player to choose mp3/ogg music, like Guyfawkes's Squares game. I don't know yet.

Cheers

Oh, this explains lack of playable material in user-hands ^^ When ends the Gbax07 so everyone can enjoy the game?

P.S.: Me for myself don't like Music in strategic/puzzle/thinking games. I can't concentrate when Music is playing so I could live good without Music. :) (And the lack of .mp3 or .ogg music-files reduces the MB-Size of this game of course. ;) ) General Music Support is ok. And these mod-files are tiny I know.
