[solved] bluetooth tethering?

I want to thether my phone (nokia c-5)

I don't get it. I do get hciconfig -a networking but I don't get the option access internet through phone in the bluetooth manager.

also my disconnect button is greyed out.

But I didnt get how you solved it

Is it known why the option doesn't show up in some phones?

when I try the alerino tutorial I get:

bosbeetle-openpandora:~/Desktop$ sudo pppd call 3Gpppd: This system lacks kernel support for PPP. This could be because

the PPP kernel module could not be loaded, or because PPP was not

included in the kernel configuration. If PPP was included as a

module, try `/sbin/modprobe -v ppp'. If that fails, check that

ppp.o exists in /lib/modules/`uname -r`/net.

See README.linux file in the ppp distribution for more details.

bosbeetle-openpandora:~/Desktop$ /sbin/modprobe -v ppp

FATAL: Module ppp not found.

I am running hf4 shouldnt ppp be in there?

opkg says it is

Package ppp (2.4.3-r9.5) installed in root is up to date.

getting closer I had the wrong channel

bosbeetle-openpandora:~/Desktop$ sudo pppd call 3G

ATE

Connect script failed

So I guess Im stuck, I hoped I could connect my phone, I have no clue how to proceed

Another thing I noticed if I connect from pandora to my phone it shows a little key

If I do it the other way around it shows a computer (and disconnect is not grey anymore)

could you output the files you edited?

I've tried a whole bunch mostly I used directly the ones in this thread. (and some I found on a dutch forum) It goes through until the line with the IP adres and then it gives error connection script failed

However completly oftopic: alternatively I like to try it via the usb, I attach my phone in either 'pc suite' or 'connect pc to internet' mode, in several ubuntu forums it says it should show up in network manager but it doesnt in angstrom on the pandora any idea what I could do there. (desperatly learning some linux here :D )

however I already fail in the first part my phone doesnt show an option for sharing internet via bluetooth

what outputs do you need?

(I do notice different behaviour when I reboot with bluetooth on ?)

bosbeetle-openpandora:~/Desktop$ sudo pppd call 3G
ATE

Connect script failed

And that takes quite a while, when I do it again it give the same without ATE but quick

it won't show in the menu, all nokias use DUN

output all commands you're trying, let's try to find what's wrong

did you set your phone to automatically accept connections from pandora?

no I didnt do the automatic accept, its an option I only get if i bind from my phone to the pandora, I did it now, still nothing

outputs everything as in your tutorial except

Code:
'' ATZ

SAY "ATE\n"

OK 'AT+CGDCONT=1,"192.168.1.1","wap.telfort.nl"'

OK 'AT'

OK 'ATDT*99#'

SAY "Dialing\n"

I've also tried

Code:
TIMEOUT 5

ECHO ON

ABORT '\nBUSY\r'

ABORT '\nERROR\r'

ABORT '\nNO ANSWER\r'

ABORT '\nNO CARRIER\r'

ABORT '\nNO DIALTONE\r'

ABORT '\nRINGING\r\n\r\nRINGING\r'

"" \rAT

TIMEOUT 12

OK ATZ

OK 'AT+CGDCONT=1,"192.168.1.1","wap.tefort.nl",,0,0'

OK ATD*99***1#

And I removed the two lines in the rfcomm.conf

The IP adres I put in manually in my phone ( it was on automatic)

network is fine

got I five times in a row, I will restart and try again, were getting somewhere I think :D

always loopback detectend and than connection terminated

(strange thing I noticed is the channel being +1 every time, (serial connection using channel 1)

I get the loopback using

Code:
OK ATD*99***1#

instead of

Code:
OK ATDT*99#

actually I get it with both

I also tried the other dailer but that does the same

i found this

Q: When I try to establish a connection, I get an error message saying "Serial line is looped back". Why?
A: Probably your connection script hasn't successfully dialled out to the remote system and invoked ppp service there. Instead, pppd is talking to something which is just echoing back the characters it receives. The -v option to chat can help you find out what's going on. It can be useful to include "~" as the last expect string to chat, so chat won't return until it's seen the start of the first PPP frame from the remote system.

I think the dailer isnt correct, At least Im talking to my phone now.

Well I guess I have to give it up, I think my provider knows the settings buts doesnt allow for thethering. Maybe thats the whole thing, stupid dutch providers.

Thanks alot alerino, I will try more later if you get your c6 to work I might try some other stuff.
