I just started a small modding project on my Caanoo. There will be no technical changes (though I´d like to do a d-pad conversion, but I´m by far not good enough to do so). Last Weekend I opened it see here and today I have cut the top of the screen bevel. The top is enough for me, though RZZ removed some at the bottom and the sides as well in his thread see here
This evening I will put primer on it and the next days I will paint it. I decided to use a colour scheme similar to the old Gulf Porsche 917 race car, see here because of the Caanooish orange in it.
Maybe I´ll change button-layout to SNES, but I´m not sure for now.
More pictures will follow and if you are also planning something like this, you´re welcome to ask about my experiences (especially opening the caanoo is a little bit tricky).

Nice one Akabei, great to see this kind of stuff, I would like to change the joystick for a psx one, or even a d-pad...

The fitting of the buttons looks quite fragile, so I better left them where they are. No rework needed till now, even the little mic hole is still open. btw, I decided to paint the backside after reassembly, so I don´t have to remove the speakers and vibration motors.

I would see if one of these could fit on the CPU as there very small in size, they look bigger in the pic but the Dimension is 15 x 13 x 9 mm ( L x W x H )

be good for when overclocking the caanoo ;)

Even smaller in height

An update: If you live somewhere near Germany, you´ll know that there is nothing you can call a summer. As I paint and dry my Caanoo on my balcony, it was so cold, that the paint "shrunk" or something. So I had to sandpaper it again, leading to some interesting result. My friends needed 2 days to convince me, not to leave my Caanoo "rat-like".
