Skin Issues With Fw 2.0

I was trying to update my win 95 skin to be 2.0 compliant, so as a test, I just threw on my skin to see how the screens looked.

On the main menu, when I move over an icon, the others dissappear ... then re-appear when I select another icon to the left, right, up or down ... I don't understand why. Perhaps a skin-creation wiz might be so kind as to offer some help?

(Note: I only put my 'imgmain' folder on the card, so I didn't get to test any other menus ... once I saw how goofy it looked I put the Default skin back)

Thanks in advance :)

While I may not be a 'skin-creation wiz' I have found a temporary solution. The menu is still a little buggy but no icons completely disappear then reappear on the menu. I have also checked out the rest of your skin, the only other menu that is buggy is the Settings menu because there are the added icons on that menu. And like said only a temporary fix.

image link just save it in your imgmain folder

Thanks for the idea :) It will leave the icons inside the window, and only show the "selected" icon as it's overlayed on the main menu image ... I'm off to try it now.

Edit: Again, thanks so much for the idea! It's more efficient to use a solid image of all the icons in their "off" state, and then overlay an "on" image when the icon is selected :)

However, there's still some very perplexing issue(s) with the screen's refresh rate or something

I've attatched an image I used for all the "off" icons ... basically a 1 x 1 nothing PNG used as a placeholder ... I replaced it with all the "off" icons, and ran the imgall utility, and now ... I get "stuck" icons ... after I select one, and move to another, the "on" state still is visible on screen until I select another one at random ... very strange.

I think I found the solution to the 'stuck' icons if you look at the icon_on for the System icon it's transparency field is not that big, if you were to change it so it was the same size as the Video icon I think it should turn off stuck icons when you select the System icon. Hope this works.

Thanks for the help ... I don't have time to try any fix for awhile, but will keep you all posted once I do.

Thanks again :)

Sooo... how does one go about updating the skin on 2.0? Do you just use the same updater file? Or flash the firmware using only skin files??

I'm updating my Win 3.1 and Windows Handheld skins to be 2.0 compliant but I don't know what skin updater tool to use.... thxxxxxxxxxx!

I used the one that comes with the blue/green poison skins.

I updated my Mac OS 9 skin with the 2.0.0 default skin files; changing all of the new icons into mac-ish ones. The only problem I had was that the imgall file in the default skin kept ignoring the system folder so I grabbed the imgall from the poison blue skin and everything is now all 2.0.0 compliant.

that Win 3.1 skin works nicely with 2.0, however, there are no icons for the extra settings options - took me a while to realise that i could still get into the settings even though the icons weren't there
