Sega vowed never to enter the hardware business again after the demise of the Dreamcast .
I was in NYC on 9-9-99 and stood on line to purchase mine [with a free shirt].
I also own a Black Sports edition Dreamcast.
It would be a dream come true to see the Pandora able to include a Dreamcast emulator.
There was talk of this early on yes?
Saturn/Yabause was an amazing breakthrough, though far from perfected IMHO.
As far as another Sega console appearing, regretfully, I think not. I do own a black TREAMCAST although not made by Sega is portable and region free!!!!
I messaged the guy who posted the first pandora dreamcast emu running via youtube earlier on today to ask him if he had any interest in continuing with it.I think in their hearts sega want to make another console but their heads are ruling their hearts now.If they become hugely profitable again in the future it could happen maybe.
What was the gentleman's reply?
I do not know the mind set of Sega but perhaps you are correct. My gut felling is that they would fall prey to the big 2 once again [sony and Nintendo].
As far as handhelds are concerned, Microsoft learned that lesson with the Zune player. I am not a huge fan of the ipad but it has done quite well with gaming. There has been speculation of Apple entering the console arena.
Again, I feel Sega would fall behind [handheld or tabletop console] unless they came out with something totally revolutionary , as I thought the Dreamcast was in it's time
Don't forget Retro gaming is a huge $$ now and Sega, Atari and others are capitalizing on this software so perhaps there is no need for a 'cash cow' risk at this time??
Damned the emulators!!
