My Pandora might ship soon, so I was curious is there any need for me to worry about compatibility issues like I had with my GP2X?

Is the Pandora able to read SDHC and SDXC cards? I assume at least SDHC.

I'm looking at these two guys:

http://www.amazon.co...34072821&sr=8-4

http://www.amazon.co...34072821&sr=8-1

It can read/write both SDHC and SDXC, there are various threads about cards, right up to 128GB ones.

I'd stick to ones people have confirmed work.

Here is a good thread on the 128GB cards you can now get:

So let me get this straight. The SanDisk is easy, pick any of the 64GB cards listed on that page instead. Simple enough.

I'm really wanting to rsync my music over to the Pandora which is >64GB. I'll use the second card for software and games and stuff.

I've read through a few of those reports, and it sounds like the 128 GB Lexar is a bit iffy on how long it will last and what it will do to battery life. Amazon does returns on the item, so if it breaks I can return it. If it doesn't, I can report my results here and then other people might jump on the bandwagon.

I just want to make sure I know where I stand there... some of those tests seem pretty positive.

Let me clarify a bit on the Lexar since I've been recently running some testing on it (for fun - yeah, I know...)

As far as I know, there is no reason to believe that the Lexar card would have any less longevity than any other high quality card on the market today. That said, with any new product, there is no real good way for a consumer to predict longevity.

I've found it to be quite fast when compared to what I considered to be a fast SDHC card.

The benchmarks that MrRob gave me to run in that thread are likely a better measure of performance than doing the tests on the SD compatibility list. They're still formative though - so there isn't much to compare them to yet.

The most interesting part, to me, was that the Lexar held up so well under continuous writes compared to the Patriot card. Giving Patriot their due - their card is using technology @2 years older than the Lexar card's. In tech terms that's like comparing a flip phone to an Android tablet.

I would love to see more cards get tested so we can see where things fall out. In the meantime, if you're looking for a 128GB card, the Lexar is, in my very humble opinion, a fairly solid choice. Your experience may, of course, vary.

Here is a compatibility list:

Seems that this Sandisk has a poor write speed.

The Lexar is untested.

The Lexar is tested plenty. It is simply not posted.

I received my Pandora yesterday. I ended up getting the 128GB Lexar Professional and the 64GB Lexar Professional both.

Playing music off the 128GB for 7 hours and the battery is only at 50%. I think it's not damaging the battery life at all. Other one has played PSX games off of it and it was doing great too.

Not as good as numbers, but some anecdotal evidence for people worried about battery life.

Woah woah woah, let's not get carried away. I think you really need to produce some kind of Pandora 2 before we can start seeing 256GB SD cards in mainstream.

get a 1TB 2.5" HDD with USB casing and double-sided-tape that to the Pandora's bottom or lid :D

SDXC: 256GB (2x128GB) = 310$

SDD: 256GB = 248$

HDD: 1TB = 108$

around 8$ for the USB casing

100$ for the HDD

or 256GB SSD for 240$

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006693%20600038487&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20

bigger, cheaper, faster.

Also don't forget to take power consumption into account. Spinning discs eat batteries for breakfast.
