Still fresh, damnit!
I don't recall Donkey Kong Jr G&W relying on catching or avoiding falling objects too much, though it's always possible I'm forgetting it as I haven't played it in 20 years or so.
Bomb Finder seem hard to locate any gameplay vidoes of, but I found a few pictures at handheldmuseum.com. But the gameplay you describe sounds a bit similar to the G&W game Bomb Sweeper. I never played it myself though. Some non-G&W LCD games can be quite enjoyable. The best one I ever played was a game called Bomb Finder. It's a top down game where you need to push walls in order to make a path through a maze to the bomb. While rushing against a time limit (It is a time bomb you see!)
If you don't plan carefully, it is very easy to push a wall which will end up blocking you from ever reaching the bomb. Successfully reaching the bomb means that you will automatically defuse it and you will then go onto the next level which has a different maze. After clearing all the different maze configurations (there was at least 20. Maybe as high as 30?!) it will start you at level 1 with, IIRC, an even tighter time limit. And so on ad infinitum.
It was quite challenging (because even if you solved a level in a previous run, you only needed to make one mistake - while under pressure - to cause your current run to come to a sudden end) until I had the idea of mapping out each maze that I reached on paper (letting the bomb go off which I sketched the pattern) then I could chart the optimal path at my leisure. After eventually finishing this "cheat sheet", it was simply a matter of consulting the map for each level I reached!
I already did a few PND based on box86. Not a stand alone launcher, but games packaged with box86 like Donkey Kong (I did quite a few, really, like Descent 3, FTL, Undertale, Neko Puzzle, Deltarune...). I don't think at this point a "stand alone" pnd would change much inside Pandora community.I did send you a message PM on this matter a while back. I wonder if you got the time to look at it (suggestion for making a box86 pnd)?
I see, I will update the XML's for my releases then. It looks like the search only finds what is inside the description, not information written in addidional info. You can search "box86" on repo, with a few hit already (and not all the pnd from me).
I played your donkey Kong game, it's great! It took me right back to the 80'sI have updated DonkeyKong at the repo. I have resized it to 800x480 to avoid cpu usage for scaling, so now it is fullscreen by default.
Also uploaded my two other LCD remakes, FireAttack and Runaway. Bolh converted to 800x480.
You are correct @levi. I included this as the runner up in my earlier post (re best G&W gameplay) - or rather, to be precise, I meant to. My brain skipped a beat and I had typed Donkey Kong II instead of Donkey Kong Jr! (Nothing wrong with II though. Both are good games.)I don't recall Donkey Kong Jr G&W relying on catching or avoiding falling objects too much, though it's always possible I'm forgetting it as I haven't played it in 20 years or so.
I went through my collection of handheld electronic games and found it.Bomb Finder seem hard to locate any gameplay vidoes of, but I found a few pictures at handheldmuseum.com. But the gameplay you describe sounds a bit similar to the G&W game Bomb Sweeper. I never played it myself though.

@amyren - Thanks!I have updated DonkeyKong at the repo. I have resized it to 800x480 to avoid cpu usage for scaling, so now it is fullscreen by default.

It should run on 1Ghz pandoras, because that is what I have been testing it on.@amyren - Thanks!
The new version of Donkey Kong doesn't work on my Pandora BTW. When I try to run it, nothing happens. Not sure why this is happening. (The old fullscreen upload works but not the new one)
Thanks @amyren - I had already removed the old DK PND from my Pandora and rebooted. My Pandora is a 1Ghz rebirth. It should run on 1Ghz pandoras, because that is what I have been testing it on.
Try to remove the old donkeykong files from your pandora before installing 1.79.
Then reboot after reinstalling
Thanks @amyren - I extracted the PND and ran the sh. It worked fine! So then I tried the PND and that worked as well! No idea what happened there. Just glad it is now working. Thanks for your help!If nothing else helps, you could try extracting the PND to a folder on your Sdcard. Then use the terminal and cd into that folder, and then run the command:
./runscript.sh
It should run then. But if it does not, at least you get some output in the terminal that might give you a clue.
