is the GP32 actually capable of addressing 512mb cards?

has anyone tried the xd converter?
No, it isn't capable, and yes, some people have tried.

I thought it's only been tried with 16MB cards, but it's been shown another way that it can't do >128MB? Oh, and the 16MB card w/ XD converter worked :)

can you change the firmware to make it accept over 128mb cards

right now the 512 still work though doesn't it

it just wont read more that 128 of it

I even took my GP32 round my friends house with the Pinball Dreams demo, and GPDoom, and he's now saving to buy a GP32 of his own after one single demonstration.

Yeah I know 3 people who are very close to getting a GP, a decent megadrive emu would sway the lot of em (one of them would get one now if his girlfriend would let him (although a decent mega drive emu and full speed sonic would persuade her too))

This (and the others) will sell a lot of Gp's

Who knows perhaps if the Euro launch takes off we'll see some high meg switchable smc cards (sort of like the old ps1 memory cards that had a button to select dif virtual cards on the same card)

Are you answering the question or asking it?

Funny old thing, this Gp32 scene. :)

I've seen better emulators on this 166mhz console and 8mb ram, than on my 400mhz 64mb ram Pocket PC. :)

How's Pocket SNES compare to OS9xGP? :D

 There's my point right there.

Though i've got to admit, Morphgear was a pretty sweet emulator. :)

Though the D-Pad on my Dell Axim is F*CKING TERRIBLE.

The video was absolutely amazing. Wasn't it? It was running at full speed at FS 0 and 66 mhz! I know it was just the menu, but still! :D
I was about to ask if you were joking about FS0 @ 66MHz...now that I've checked the front page I'm just speechless...

Alll i can say is YES you'll be even able to under clock games to get more battery life :D I hope you can also turn sound on and off when it gets implemented. :D :D :D MEGA DRIVE W00t W000t If it gets rf link another GP for me to play 2 player :)

I tell you what really would be a laugh.

Rlyeh emulating the Virtua Racing megadrive chip perfectly along with it.

To have handheld Virtua Racing would own more than anything that has ever owned before.

((OT: 100th Post. :)))

I believe the 'SVP' chip in Virtua Racing was a Hitachi SH1 RISC unit @ 23MHz - used in many Sega arcade boards, and as a co-processor for the Saturn, it's a miracle Virtua Racing came out for "only" $90 back in the day (in an age of $60~70 cartridges, no less.)

If I'm not mistaken, that Hitachi chip is one of the hangups in getting the Saturn and Model-1 emulated properly. No MD emu on PC supports Virtua Racing w/SVP, to my knowledge.

It's nice to dream, though...seems like this emu has MHz to burn...

the reason for that is that the mobile windows OSes manage memory in chunks. A ROM needs a complete chunk of memory and cant be fragmented about so PocketPC emus have trouble getting this. The GP32 doesnt have an OS managing memory and leaves it up to the applications so the programmer gets to decide how its used.

Hehe, I suppose that's true.

Though isn't model 1 emulation currently being worked on? :) I've seen some tasty Mame WIP shots.
Yup, but guess what - polygon graphics don't display. Take a guess as to why...

They look like polygons to me. :)
