Recall Announcment

Mine's 305 .. erk... I didn't have any problems till the firmware update with the (rather common it appears) interlacing thingie ... though Hexen runs great ( faster and brighter than 1.0 somehow ) and I've sat and stared at it long enough and never noticed any flickering, just the interlacing so meh...

I'm sure if we are affected, GBAX or whoever will be shouting at us :) so prolly nothing to worry about.

I think the number in the serial number is the order it rolled off the production line for that day/batch so the manufacture date is the important bit, not the number. And afaik the first 500 were for Korea. So don't panic just yet (although I did have a flickery screen before I bricked mine :( )

GP2XV001 - 00000493 here.

Bought from GBAX.
So, if I were to send it, it seems to me sending it back to GPH, would be a better option due to my location is JPN. But on the other hand, not experiencing what they say the problem is.

Firmware upgrade success.
No screen problems.

Unless there is a problem which I don't know, am happy with this unit.

codeninja: Do you think you could translate the entire contect of that news release? So we could get the dates per serial numbers.

If not thats cool too :)

GPH also announced that units that are shipped out after Nov 28th should be ok because they fixed them already. I've got mine sometime before, but with no visual problems...confused.

i'm #161 and will definitley be sending mine back, although if i keep it maybe it may become a 1st edition collectors item in a few centuries :)

Wish I understood the versioning system... I've got V100-00000132 though my screen seems fine, apart from a barely noticable wobbling in the center of the screen when I move my stick side to side.

but I suppose that V100 is after V001 so I'm cool...

What if you say can't read your serial number..... Like say your system does not turn on.....
I think mine might be 388 but then again I have no clue. I ordered it from gp32z but it says "first edition" on it....

Well mine is affected, GP2XV001-00000397. I do get flickering when playing mp3 and sometimes in the menu but none when playing video or games. What I wanted to know is if I kept it, would there be a long term affect to the LCD?

s/n
2005.11.09 - GP2XV003 - 00000112

so it was sent out before nov28, but not part of the first 500

i've done the firmware upgrades and DO have the screen flickering problems.

it's not terrible but if gph says they will fix it, i've no problem giving the unit up for a bit.

I have

2005.11.13 - GP2XV100 - 000000XX

I get monster flickering at times, I wish I had noticed before I firmwared 1.0.1 because I might have left it, I just put it on straight away to try and get my 1GB MMC to work, no go , it doesn't like MMCplus cards at the moment.

When they release the news for the rest of the world I guess we will know.

I hope it is just firmware. The flickering in the MP3 player is godawful hideous.

I am the type who can't run a monitor over 15" 800x600 at anything less than 70hz though :)

*Just* outside that group lol... I'm V001-00000510

GPH had just another announcement. They said that even if you're the first 500 preordered customers, your unit can have S/N over 500. (V001-000005xx) That's because there were faulty units they found at the factory, and they produced more than JUST 500 units to complete the first 500 orders.

So, any unit past V001-xxxxxxxx are still misteries. Any updates, Craig?

about the dates codeninja posted, are those the dates we have to have those units back by?

They recommended to send those units on recommended dates so that they can streamline the process and be efficient about it. I know the word streamlined and efficient quite don't apply to GPH so far. They're at least trying. :)

They're trying. but now it makes me wonder about my own unit, I'm unsure if I should hang on to mine and hope not to develop any problems later or try to plunk down the cash and wait for the wheels to spin around a new repaired one to me.
