Re4

Why? It has no interaction with the game, it looks awkward, and to top it all of it makes a "roaring" sound when it vibrates, you just know that sound will be low quality and annoying.

Probably but it's starting to grow on me now to. But I don't have a Gamecube so it's out of the question for me.

I was so pissed off when outbreak was made offline only.

ummm... Outbreak is online... infact i've played it online, maybe it's not online in europe but it sure is online in america....

And about the controller, WTF, i think it would be fun for collecting and nostalgia but not for actually using... looks even more unconfortable than the gamecubes controller is already.

The gamecube controller being uncomfortable is a misconception. I enjoyed taking the piss out of its ridiculous shape initially, but I vastly prefer it over the Xbox controller, and even over the PS2 (although the d-pad is completely useless due to its size)

The chainsaw controller apparently has no adverse effects on gameplay, plus it looks cool, plus it's a great conversation piece for the whole family, plus you can probably turn the roaring off. I'll probably just pass it around during a few multiplayer games for my own amusement (ever played Soul Calibur II with DK Bongos? It's hilarious) but keep it as a collectory item primarily.

ummm... gamecube controllers are uncomfortable for me. i never said the chainsaw would affect gameplay i said it would maybe be more uncomfortable. It'd be wierd for me because it's actually like holding a chainsaw while playing a game so. the only thing i like that isn't a regular controller is the steel battalion controller.

The GC controller is the most comfertable controller I've yet come across. I have all three consoles and have used all extensively. Although the new smaller Xbox controller is pretty good as well. The PS2 controller is shit IMHO, it seems to have been designed with the idea that all games use the D-pad as the left analogue is 'slightly' to far away for your thumb (it really is only a miniscule amount, but after three or four hours play my thumb starts to ache, whereas on the GC it doesn't)

Think pads these days are uncomfortable? Try a NES or Master System pad - seemed like they were designed to cut your hands!

I'd buy that chainsaw for novelty value alone but I prefer controllers that don't make me look ridiculous. I mean, it looks great in those picture but consider how tiny it is...

It's tiny? Hmmm. May end up making me look like a five-star pillock. It has been UNDECIDED. On the other hand I'm still getting the game.

c0ncept, I agree with you, it keeps the legacy PS1 shape for no real reason and I'm not sure how often that second stick is used. Whereas the GC has buttons + stick on the same horizontal level. The S-Controller is neat (what the hell were Microsoft thinking when they made the original pad so huge?) although I can't easily reach the black/white buttons. Same with the Gamecube's Z button; it's position is fairly useless.

Huxley, I always liked the Genesis 6-button with the start button in its GOD-GIVEN CENTRAL POSITION. Accessing 6 buttons is demonstrated to be just as easy as SNES/PS/Gamecube/XBox's 4 buttons.

Yeah, the Sega MegaDrive/Saturn pads are the most comfortable.

I also think the DC pad is based off the Saturn 3D pad.

Yeah, the MD's pad was one of the first to really get a grips on this whole 'ergonomics' malarky. They made a mistake using only 3 buttons but the 6 button variant worked just as well. It's not my fave controller but it's hard to fault.

That chainsaw looks great, I'm sure you won't regret buying it. I mean, if you like playing DDR with a dancemat I can't see you having any problem with a mini chainsaw controller

The yellow stick on the Gamecube controller is utterly worthless.

sure it is, try playing an FPS with a control stick and four buttons

I think the GC and XBox method of:

Joystick Buttons
D-Pad Joystick

is far superior to PS2s

D-Pad Buttons
Joystick Joystick

The original Xbox control had buttons that were lop sided, and Y wasnt where Y shud be (Drectly above A/B) it was sorta up and to the side

The GC is a continuation of the N64 (Joystick and C buttons)

BTW, i would also like to know how everyone plays their FPS

I play with the left stick as move forward/back and look

and the right stick and strafe and look up/down

and inverted controls

Obviously this is goldeneye stuff

My mates however (ALL OF EM)

have one for look and one for move with no invert

i find this remarkably uncomfortable and not as easy to control (especially not inverting)

just curious how every1 else plays

One for look, one for move, no inversion. I don't play alot of FPS's though, and usually I play them on the PC with a mouse.

I can't understand how anyone can bear to use a PS2 controller for more than 10 minutes. The two side bits are far to small to fit in anyone but a 3 year-old's hands, the joysticks are in ridiculous positions, the D pad and buttons are useless, it doesn't have proper triggers, and the two bits where the joysticks are dig into your fingers. Plus the joysticks themselves are terrible, they are far too loose, absolutely useless for FPSes. And try playing a fighting game with one, I guarantee you'll have sore hands for a week.
Xbox controllers are the best for FPSes (I actually slightly prefer the big fat one, it feels uncomfortable at first but after a bit of playing it feels fine)
Gamecube controllers are the best for everything else. They aren't great for FPSes because the joysticks click round in eight directions, though I have an unofficial one which doesn't and it's great for FPSes.

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at...are you're suggesting that the PS2's pad can't handle a Joystick-Buttons or D-Pad-Joystick combination? As far as I know it's the only controller that allows you to have two thumbs on joysticks and still have access to four buttons!

What is with the black bars though? Is the cube so weak that they have to cut the resolution in HALF to get a good frame rate? BAH! maybe they will full screen it on the PS2 or Xbox if it is released on it. And don't give me that "they did it for effect" BS. That is what all of the Nintendo fanbois said about fog on the N64, but we really knew the truth.

I love the PS2 controller, the Xbox one is ok but I have only played on a GC one for about 5 minutes.

DaveC: Expect the game to look terrable on the PS2, most gamecube to PS2 ports do.

Agreed on all terms. I played Goldeneye thanks to the auto-aim, and am competent at Halo, but my natural habitat is the mouse and keyboard with a ridiculously high sensitivity. Sure, some people are extremely skilled with the joypad, but usually they don't even come close.

Most Xbox to Gamecube ports look awful too like Splinter Cell. To bad Capcom shuns the Xbox. If they made it for that it could be fullscreen with normalmapping etc.

Stupid Capcom, just because their DinoCrisis 3 was a complete bomb they blame the Xbox rather than their utterly AWFUL camera angles for the failure.
