Ram Upgrade Question

I've recently come into some money thanks to a refund given to me by Expedia for messing up some of my plane tickets for the Champions League Final...

I was thinking of upgrading the ram on my PC, 512mb just doesn't cut it these days.

I've got 4 ram slots and the capacity to use up to 4GB of ram.

What I want to know is, for the money, is 4GB worth it? I was just thinking of getting two 512mb sticks (have to do it in pairs), to go with my existing 256mb sticks. What do you think about that? Would the difference be great? Is it worth it? The sticks I need are below:

Ta La.

Get two Gigabyte ones- then you can configure one GB of them as ramdisk- with incredible speed!

well it depends on what you do with the computer / plan to do with it

but I would go for it

1 Gig should be fine, I personally wouldn`t go above 2 gig.

For instance, I have 1 gig in my machine, I mostly have around 4-5 programs (not processes) running at the same time and still have over 500 meg free.

1 Gig = Most definitely.

2 Gig = Yes if you can afford it.

4 Gig = I wouldn`t bother, It`s not worth it and you or windows will probably never use it.
