two days before my gp2x is set to arrive, my computer's power supply blows and I have no money to replace it, the only computer I have is an apple powerbook G4, are there drivers so I can connect the gp2x to my apple laptop and transfer stuff to it

Yes, there should be no problems using an apple laptop as long as it has a USB port.

so I could connect it to an apple and it should detect it automatically?

Right, it should act like a normal usb mass storage device (like a USB stick or whatever) so extra drivers shouldn't be needed. But it seems like the USB2 support is problematic, so you may end up having to plug it into a USB1.1 port or through a USB1.1 hub, or get a card reader as mentioned.

Try going through a usb 1.1 hub, or find a way to disable USB2 in OSX.

Possibly a stupid question, but have you gone into the settings menu and selected USB? It won't be detected without doing that.
