I recently had an idea: The PSP's PS emulator is as perfect as a PS emulator will get, right? So what if someone extracted it and clean room engineered ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clean_room_design ) it for the GP2X? I personally don't have a PSP, so I don't know how possible it is... But it would defiantly be worth a try.

The things that make an emulator like that fast are all platform specific to PSP. That includes the CPU dynarec to MIPS code (not ARM like GP2X), translating GTE to VFPU (which the GP2X doesn't have), and translating GPU to GU (which the GP2X also doesn't have). I don't see any great potential in this idea, sorry.. aside from that, it'd be mind-numbingly difficult and time consuming.
