When i started working with Ubuntu Linux one of the best things was the wiki for everything. As soon as a question was asked in the forum a wiki article was written about the answer.

Thus you were able to find answers to almost any question in a single place (the ubuntu wiki) in no time.

So my proposal is this:

what about a wiki on gp2x development?

i'm just planning, i don't know how required it is (ie: how good is the gp2x sdk doc / sdl compliance / easyness of setting up the sdk), but i think it'd be the perfect way for new/veteran gp2x developers to share theyr knowledge.

wiki's are way better for sharing knowledge than forum posts, because of the following:

in forums the same basic question tend to be asked again and again, making the veterans being annoyed and stopping answering.
but if the question is once answered, and the answer is written as compact, mini-tutorial like text in a easy-to-search wiki, we don't have to deal with such things.

don't know what i mean? i ain't am sure either.

but you might want to take a look at this:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WLANHowto?highlight=%28wlan%29
and this
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WiFiHowto

(this is the direction i think a gp2x dev wiki would be taking)

if there's any interest, i'd set up a wiki on my server. and/or ask the bigger gp2x sites for cooperation.

we need all gp2x development related things in a central place!

... to ease starting in gp2x development
... to bring more new developers to the gp2x scene
... to help them getting started
... without bothering us

...to reach the ultimate goal: 1337 haxx0r amounts of games.

;)

personally i'd prefer dev.gp2x.com (dev.gpx2.com as of now), but it's insanely nice anyway ;)

and you got the right wiki software!

if I remeber correctly we had a gp32 dev wiki, but it failed. adn was far as I know pea has on his website a way to share gp32 code (and snippets) but nearly no one used it.... set up a wiki and advertise it but I doubt the people will use it...

I've specified the license for content to be the GNU free documentation license as it's important the community owns whatever goes on there. If anyone thinks a different free license would be more appropriate do say so.

I think it's a good idea so I've set up a mediawiki on http://wiki.gp2x.org - feel free to get editing.

Your DNS seems a bit flakey at the moment

Oops, fixed now.

theodbott added all of this things.
besides where-to-buy.

however one should decide if this is a gp2x development resource or information page.

the best thing would be having this on the offical gp2x site.

http://dev.gp2x.com

someone knows how to contact gph?

it's not like i couldn't find out in a minute, but i'm too lazy.

i really love wikis! thanks for setting one up!

my only interaction w/ gph has been through their web page. maybe someone who got a prerelease unit for dev or a distributer (craig, gp32z) would know how to contact them via email. it would be cool to have the wiki on the official page.

i've only done code projects for school and work, a few dinky things here and there on my own outside of that, maybe gp2x is the system i'll finally cut my teeth on, har dee har ... <_<

Why have it on the official site? None of us are official developers, and none of the info on there will be official info from GPH, so it makes perfect sense for it to be on snaff's .org domain.
