Hi !

I'm preparing a conference for the Capitole du Libre in Toulouse (France) : https://2015.capitoledulibre.org/programme/ .

I fear to miss important things, so I ask for help.

Do you have some important dates in mind ?

What were the major problems encountered ?

Will the internal memory be a NAND or a eMMC ?

Thx !

Is there some place I can get the full specs ?

Battery mAh, dimensions, estimated weight, screen etc. ?

Weren't the nubs only the bottom part and the floating metal disc, the actual plastic part on top was separate? (nubs: N50P105)

The 4G modem (PLS8-E) doesn't come with micro-SD I think, I would assume it is also added to the 4G version. So why not have it also for other versions.

N50P105 is the mechanical part of the nub, it's essentially just the joystick mechanism that has a small magnet that will move around when used. There is a hall of effect sensor chip (AS5013) soldered on the underside that will act as a 2D encoder and is the electrical portion of the nub.  What we will see from the outside is just a plastic piece ED is making that will fit on top.

To clarify, it'll be eMMC with a microSD slot, but only one can be used at a time.  If you want more space or your eMMC starts to wear down (or you want to have a custom OS installed without sacrificing one of the large SD slots) then you can use the internal microSD and skip the eMMC.

Will the non-3G have the micro-SD slot inside ?

I would be very, very surprised if it didn't.  There's no reason not to have it.

Unless you meant the SIM card?  In which case I'm 75% certain they're using a combo microSD/SIM holder so even the non-3G will have a SIM slot, it'll just be unconnected.

Looks like aTc didn't put it up anywhere, so maybe he doesn't like people to know. But you can always ask with a PM.

Also I can't find a reference that the Pyra also has serial over USB. Though I think I read somewhere the SD-card also had some debug mode in serial (or SPI).

edit: On this photo I see the FTDI chip near the USB, so it implies it has serial over USB (https://boards.openpandora.org/uploads/post-1-0-32618500-1406479444.jpeg).

In a relatively recent post on the subject someone had mentioned that it was one or the other active on boot, but which one it was could be selected from a pre-boot menu or powering on with certain keys pressed.  So, if I understand it right, I could have two OSs, one loaded to eMMC and one loaded to an installed microSD and select at power-on which one should be loaded.

Originally I had thought that there would be a 'presence detect' on the microSD card being in-slot which would nix booting from the eMMC.  It sounds like reality is a bit more flexible in this case...?

The question I think ran to the SIM card, though, and not the microSD.  They may be confused that it's actually one holder that holds TWO cards.  It is a combination SIM and microSD holder and both may be present.  For the units not equipped with phone data hardware, the SIM card would be vestigial and the microSD should still be live.

Don't PM aTc....not to bother him, but for your own sanity and safety.
