After some semi logical cut and pasting... I chopped together this word, literally taking the word for Pen(ペン) and adding what I believe is the jin from gaijin
ペン人

Now can anyone confirm if this makes the correct sounds to say Penjin?
Solved: ペンジン

Looks all happy actually!

What the heck are you trying to write anyhow?
Your friend was right. 人 means person. It reads "hito" alone, and usually reads "jin" when in a word.
If you ARE trying to write "pen person", then ペン人 is ok. Or ペンジン, like you had.
Just FYI, gaijin (short for gaikokujin) is literally means foreign/outside person.

Penjin: ペンジン

It's the name of my engine. Dragon's_Slayer is making a neat logo for it, and I wanted these symbols somewhere in the logo.
Ahaha, yes I know what gaijin means... I just don't know all the different character systems, which my friend has cleared up a little for me too.
