Would be nice to see on Wiz or Pandora. MagicEngine has emulated it for the PC. Almost forgot about this system,

Mednafen, an open-source multi-emulator, emulates PC-FX. Unfortunately, I don't think Pandora is really fast enough for it. Its requirements are closer to 1GHz Pentium 3 class x86. A lot of the muscle in PC-FX is in the complex video chip, so some frameskip would probably lighten this requirement a lot. A dynarec for the V810 emulator would also go a long way.

Ultimately I think it's possible to get one working fullspeed w/o frameskip, but would more likely take an emulator optimized for ARM (possibly v7a, ie NEON). With the platform as unpopular as it is it isn't very likely, unless Mednafen's author herself is interested.

well, a few more than 4 games are playable without knowing Japanese, but it is only a small handful...

I'd love to see a PC-FX emu, but forget it on the wiz, the memory bottleneck in that system alone might just disqualify it. The Pandora would probably require a custom emu with some nice asm optimization, but highly unlikely...

The system, for being as old as it is, had phenomenal video quality and compression for it's time. I own one and was quite impressed with the quality of video and some of the games and ideas that were used to bring about interesting gameplay. Too bad NEC tried to turn it into a dating sim system, otherwise it probably would've stomped the competition as far as video and 2D were concerned.

P.S. If anyone wants to donate a copy of Zeroigar to me, I'd gladly play the crap outta it :p

Plus, if you cannot read Japanese there are only 3 or 4 playable games for it.
Haha add one more game to the list. "Welcome to Pia Carrot" recently got an English translation. There's a couple more games you can actually get by with and enjoy even if you can't read Japanese. I as well own a PC-FX and it was quite a nice machine spec wise. Kishin Doji Zenki is one of my favorites on the system as well as Super God Trooper Zeroigar.

There's not enough games to play to really warrant doing all the work for a PC-FX emu. From a technical standpoint everyone else pretty much summed all that up.

Oops, this was the Wiz forum. Forget what I said about potential for one running at fullspeed please :c

@Hooka I believe the PC-FX doesn't have copy protection, you can download iso images from the internet.

PC-FX was freaking huge console, almost like a mini-tower pc. Was the components really that big or was it just a design gimmick? I sold mine a few years ago. Props to the author of Magic Engine for his technical capabilities. I'm sure he has connections to get the docs on the chips.

It was a design gimmick to be honest, theres not all that much in there.

Chip Chan Kick is a very very nice game. Similar to Rainbow Islands and probably worth buying the system for!

@Hooka, when i say 3 or 4 playable games, i mean games that have no dependency on the player having any japanese knowledge. There are only 4 games (arcade style) that don't have any.
