Pandora Gui Concept I Made

but you're right, and it wouldn't have to be flash anyway. opengl es is enough of a framework to cook up what i mentioned. sdl would work too. i just figured that there's a lot more people out there that are familiar with flash than with actual coding :p
You don't want anything remotely critical to be made in flash.

It should be possible to make the interface scriptable in a variety of languages, including Javascript. Look up KDE's Plasma.

Another one, hope you like it. (I didn't have time to add any eye candy)

Note that the adress bar disappears when file browser is not in use and the battery indicator etc. disappears too. I just realized, that I have to move the tabs up and squeeze date & battery into one bar.
Much nicer. Although I don't think the scroll-bars on the side are a necisity. Navigation with the D-Pad should highlight icons and if highlight an icon at the bottom of the screen then it could automatically scroll down to the next line. If you want to scroll in larger amounts you could use one of the analogue nubs.

(edit)
Also I think the batt level indicator and the info given there will be far too small. I can bearly read them on the full size render, when scaled down to a Pandora's screen I think they will become unreadable.

Symbian OS has scrollbars just to tell you how long the list actually is. I'll enlarge battery etc. in next image.

Symbian has a tiny line ddown the screen which shows you how long the list is, which is a good idea (in fact the varible width scrollbar based on amount of information to display was a patended by Amiga I believe. Either the patent has now expired, or the holding company doesn't realise that they own it and its being infringed!)

I think your scrollbar could be more like the one on symbian so it doesn't take too much real estate. Or alternatively you could simply have a tiny little up arrow at the top and down arrow at the bottom which are only displayed if there's another page of data.
