Currently,http://apps.open-pandora.org/ and http://dl.openhandhelds.org/ are the two sources for applications and games. Unfourtaintly, there seems to be a problem that I have noticed. They both don't have all the apps that there counterpart has. Which is a problem for people that only use the now very popular OP apps store, or the Archive only. I'm willing to help keep them both up to date, but just a note to developers, please post them in both places.

I'm going to add a beta tag to PandoraApps so we can put betas on there (but with a warning to users than it's a beta).

I'd also like someone to help maintain it while we begin the assembly of this mountain of 3000 Pandora consoles.

You would mostly just be keeping things up to date and organized.

dont forget the box there is more than 2 places to get those apps.
theBox

I believe EvilDragon might be hosting this soon too, and it will work as a repo from the terminal and I think dflemstr is also going to make a native application for the pandora when he gets his aswell so you wont even need to visit the site.

all 3 options are good at the moments some getting updated faster than others and i think 3 might be too many who knows :)

There are also more than 3 places to get apps:

Unfortunately none of the 4 sites has an option to download all apps at once :(

Its a real nuisance to have to keep track of all these sites manually .. I sure wish we'd move to a proper Linux repository-feed system for apps, so that the Pandora can do all the work of finding new stuff, like it should ..

Well, that works for the OS.

For the PND files, someone needs to code that first.

^ I know a talented Swedish developer, if he gets enough support he would surely be able to accomplish that ;)

Yes, I know it's a pain, but these things take time to set up - and to be honest I don't think it is needed TODAY. Over the next couple of months, we'll gain some (who knows, 5? 20?) keen people with the skills to get this sort of thing off the ground. At this stage, there are probably other details which are occupying people (like getting the wifi light to come on properly after standby).

I get the feeling you think this sort of thing will never happen unless you make a noise - and I don't think that is the case.

I am pretty sure he already did or at least is working on a command-line utility.

The problem is how do we get all the different archives to play along nicely? Re-invent the repo wheel?

I'm looking forward to the launch of The Box .. so far its the most sensible archive for Pandora apps that I've seen, and I hope we get an auto-update feature out of its clever design, somehow ..
