how far can i push the gp2x safely ?? i have mine at 305mhz and its stable playing games, would i dare to go much more , can i damage it ?!

It'll get unstable if you go too high, but will crash before it can cause itself any damage. As long as you don't touch the voltage, you'll be fine.

when i overclock to 300, the cpu program just freezes =( i can do 266 but any higher and i just freeze =(

your right 320 crashes , 306 crashes , 299 is totally fine as is 305 but when i go back into the cpu program it shows 299. Anyway drmd plays at 305 so it must be working :) guess i got a lucky one

Yea 266 sometimes crashes me when i use the snes emulator, and my batteries drain alot faster too so take that in to account (and I use 2500mAH ones)

well for things which might use the second processor, it would be good too, cpu 1 and cpu 2 both running 266 mhz with PSX emu or SNES would really increase speed significantly (at least with SNES anyway)

the way linux makes use of the second processor is making it difficult for them to use it for anything substantial. I'm sure that once we see them move to HH the second processor will be used much more.

Sorry, but what's HH?

HH stands for "Hardcore Homebrew" (or something like that....). It is something that developers are designing to get direct access to the gp2x hardware without linux. If you don't plan on developing anything then all you really need to know is that it SHOULD make things run much faster and let them use the gp2x to its full potential.

Its not the really the way Linux uses the processor but how Digisys has setup Linux. The second processor isn't even seen by the OS neither is the uper 32 megs of ram. But both are accessable to the programmer if they're willing to put in the effort to send things to them but at the moment no one has.

It was stated in a earlier post on the forum that broke down like this

1 cpu for the system with 32m ram the rest of the system is used for Mplayer
1 cpu and all 64m ram but no Video Playback
2 cpu and ~ 48m ram (second cpu has no cache so you have to use ram) and no Video PlayBack**

** Might have made up that last one but the first to were disscused.
