Oldplay V0.95

My small review:

The Bad:

-NEEDS Better Filter for Mods. (good for chiptunes, I do however like SOME filtering...)
-SPC emulation innacurate ( CT: 3-14 Last battle, Most players get it wrong anyhow)
-sluggish/low responsive controls (Linux issue? how does it work in a GP2X)
-dark Colours. (the defaults should always be good; high visibility)
-directory contents do not display in some cases
-no true 'Stop playing' button

The Good:
It has played nearly everything I threw at it. Impressive.
Basic, but solid layout.

As a standalone Linux/Windows player; nearly everything else beats it.

As a TRULY standalone GP2X player nothing comes within a light-year.
(nor any other portable players except really small PDA's/Laptops)

4.5 Stars out of 5. To get that last .5 add Adlib, OGG and FLAC.

What about SNDH support? Use SC68 for it ;)

What about Atari SAP support?

What about KSS support? NEZplug supports it:

What bitrate? :)

I hope next version will be definitive and having all that nice wanted features. I don't worry if the next version is released a bit before than Duke Nukem Forever release if is done ;)

Just tried oldplay 0.95 and its infinitely better than the standard gp2x mp3 player i do have a couple of gripes though:

1. the hold function is flakey sometimes it only requires pressing the r button to turn on which is a pain when trying to blank the screen.

2. When changing the clock speed there is no clear indication of what speed you are running at (also 150mhz is too much for mp3 playback ive been playing 320kbps mp3 using the standard player at 75mhz).

I really hope he is still around, his player could as well replace the official 1 (given a small graphical update)...
bitrate for MP3's at 100Mhz was 128kbps I suppose ;).
Clock Frequency changing is disabled by default in 0.95, isn't it?

sasq's site only went down a couple of days ago.

If you check his userpage, he's been on recently too.

Anyone got the source for oldplay lying around?

Allan.

Yeah, I think i've got .95 kicking around somewhere.

Is that the latest version? Isn't there a newer one by now?
