Nintendo patents emulation on low end systems

What defines 'low end system' ?

Sometime a oct-core ARM @ 3GHZ with 8GB RAM will be low-end...

Oh, how I hate thee software patent and their related evil brethren...

They didn't patent videogame-emulation, they patented RUNNING an emulator that utilises certain specific techniques, worded very specifically to dodge the prior art. The patent also cites a long list of emulators as prior-art, so you can be reasonably sure that the specific things of what they patented weren't present in those emulators.

This isn't really Pandora-specific, so I'm going to move this to Other Consoles, if you guys don't mind. ;)

EDIT: There we go, done. That said, I remember when this patent was applied for back in the GBA's heyday! What a blast from the past - folks back then thought it was related to the GBA, and a bit later, to the DS. :p It was reported on in a hysterical fashion back then, if memory serves, and I don't doubt that some sites will do the same now, too. :p

I remember this or a similar patent was applied for and granted probably so Nintendo could safely use emulators to run old games on the Wii.
