Hi guys,

Do you have some experience with any of these "new" MegaDrive / Genesis consoles ?

Blaze's:

AT Games':

the reviews on play asia sum it up i think. nice idea, excuted badly with poor emulation and cheap build quality.

I'm pretty sure the Tectoy stuff is officially licensed from Sega. I hear alot of these new genesis systems have trouble with games with special chips. For specific information about that kind of thing, you should check out the benheck.com forums.

Ok, there's nothing more retro then owning the original console. These do look pretty but you can always use you XBOX or Wii for retro games as they can be bought online or chipped. Ok, it's convenient to plug and play with no messing about but it's old news and should be left alone instead of re-creating the console.

A better idea is to make a retro arcade cabinet that can hold a vast amount of retro consoles at a touch of a button. Materials could get pricey but you can upgrade and change the software as often as you like. Just make sure you have the space for this beefy box.

If I had the space and the permission from the missus, I would love to make one of these. :)

But they reviewed the AT games console only, not the Blaze one, because it's not out yet. I hope there will be some more build quality in the new Blaze console :)

Actually I think all 3 models are officially licensed SEGA products, but for different markets. AT games for Asia, Blaze for Europe, Tectoy for Brazil.

I think I'll try to make a MAME cabinet someday, but for arcade machines only, not for home consoles.

At the moment I'm living in a 25 square meters flat, so I think I'll wait a bit ;)
