isnt this awesome news?
i mean n900 is also open source, linux and has same hardware? So this should run on pandora with not to many problems?

What is there to say exactly? Someone ported desmume to N900, showed screenshots of what's basically a PC recompile of it running. Although a native N900 build is confirmed to work it's also confirmed to be very slow.
Is any of this surprising? desmume is portable, getting it "working" on N900 or Pandora was never supposed to be a challenge (it was also ported to Wii, N800, even PSP). It was also ported to Pandora ages ago by cpasjuste. Everyone should have known these things already. Everyone also should have known it'd be piss slow, and it is.
Time to move along...

the "current" desmume port for the n900 (like just about anything else) seems to be a quick and dirty port, so no optimization or anything and on the actual hardware @600mhz it crawls at around ~5-10fps in actual games (and thats with sound off and frameskip at 4). people reported an increase of about 4fps when o/cing past 1ghz
so yeah, nice to see it running but thats pretty much it
