Again my my quest to find beloved and cool games from the past worth playing, is another best-of poll; please post your favorite '3d'-style RPGs and dungeon romps - from any platform. I'll tally them up for a best of and 'good games' list :)

Feel free to repeat from other peoples, so I can tally the 'favourites'..

I'll put some of the obvious ones here, but I know I'm forgetting many.

(Note that by 3d, I meaneven Eye of the Beholder 90degree-step style as well as full 3d.)

Note also that I've been PC-centric for RPGs and such; never much counted console RPGs as any good.. I like stat-heavy games ;)

Ultima Underworld series (PC only?)
Eye of the Beholder series (PC, Amiga)
Elder Scrolls (including Morrowind) (PC, XBox)
Wizardry Series (notably, Wizardry VI, VII and VIII) <-- my fav with Dungeon Master natch
Dungeon Master Series (ST, Amiga, PC) - includes Dungeon Master 2 on PC
Captive (ST, and Amiga had a sequal as well)
World of Xeen (Might and Magic) (PC only? mybe SNES?)
FATE (ST only)
Elvira (ST, Amiga?)

Note that Baldurs Gate do not count -- they're isometric; trying for first-person here.

Morrowind (pc) = all time fave cant wait for Oblivion
Dungeon master (amiga)
Liberation (cd32) futuristic dungeon romp lol
Dungeon siege (pc) didnt read rules<= not first person.

Theres plenty more i havnt played for years and cant remember...

Dragon Wars
BardsTale 1 thru 4
Wizardry ( any but for VIII)
The SSI Gold Box series of D&D
Any Eye of the beholder

Not first person:
Dragon Warrior VII
Dragon Quest VIII (both VERY stat-heavy!)
Final Fantasy VII, IX, X (not X-2 or XI though)

All of the above had stories that would have carried them as 2D games as well . . . :)

Captive (Amiga, PC too i think) absolutely wicked sci-fi sequel to dungeon master, and prequel to 'liberation' which feddon already mentioned. has 65000 levels, apparently. I got to about level 7

Bards Tale series (on loadsa platforms, mine was c64) - actually had another go of this recently, and it hasn't aged too well, I enjoyed it more the first time around 15 years ago!

Definatly Elvira!!!!! Which came out on the Amiga and PC

But I prefered Elvira II as the combat on Elvira I was frustrating.

It gave me hours of fun and lots of horrible ways to die!!

There was also Waxworks which the same people did after these 2 games and that was cool as well

I'd still argue Wiz VIII (8) is one of the best PC RPGs ever. Fricking great combat, though too much of it :p

Dungeon Master 1 & 2 and chaos strikes back.
Lands of Lore. All of them !!
Eob 1 & 2 (not 3 as Westwood were not involved and you could tell)
System shock 1 & 2 (2 being my all time favourite)
Underworld 1 & 2
Arx Fatalis (Just like Underworld with the best spellcasting system I've ever used )
Might & Magic.
Stonekeep.
Xenomorph.
Black Crypt.

Incidentally a software company ported underworld 1 to pocket pc a couple of years ago. I have'nt heard from them since.

Also Dungeon master java is a good way to experience dungeon master on a new pc with some new dungeons and graphics available.

I haven't tried this but it always looked like fun. Maybe if I ever tire of World of Warcraft I'll give it a go.

Isometric Rogue like game.

Edit: just realised no one has mentioned the excellent Alternate Reality the City and Alternate Reality the Dungeon for Atari 800 c64 and other systems.

I lost weeks of my life to these games :)

Also well worth a mention is the Legend of Blacksilver on c64. And the Phantasy Star sega games.
