ok a week or so ago i got sick of playing my gp32, because it was so dull and white...so i decided to jazz it up a bit...

so first i took it apart, here you can see the empty gp32

then we (me and my bro...well mostly my bro) gave it a nice red coat

later we taped it off half way and painted it black

after heres how it looked B)

i cant post up pics of it together because my camera broke shortly after re-asembley, but ill make sure to post them as soon as it gets fixed, but feel free to criticise and leave opinions

The sticker area on the back looks a bit rough. I guess that's the hardest part of giving the GP a paint job. Creative design though, at first I thought you'd make it a gradient wash from red to black, but solid line looks good too. :)

The only thing is that on the spray paint cans I have there's a pretty big disclaimer that says something along the lines "this product is recognized by the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects". Now holding that paint coat tightly in your hands couldn't possibly be bad for you now can it :p

yeah the sticker area looks rough but was done fine, its just outlined by thick paint and looks a tad bit rough (it was old paint but the only silver paint in the house), but yes the sticker, along with a few other areas were difficult parts to paint, luckily they were taped off pretty good so there werent to many problems :D ...

I'm going off to a corner somewhere to cry. :(

Nice job! I suck at spray painting! I always stand too close and spray too much... Why layer when you can get it done in one go ;-) Good job though!

Why do people insist on doing this? I've never seen it done excellently, it almost always seems to ruin the console. One guy on here painted his blue and then realised it came off on his hands whenever he tried playing...

Each to their own I suppose...

i think that's because it's possible to breathe in the paint while spraypainting. not sure though.

also, as far as it coming off on fingers, you might want to give it a couple coats of clear gloss...this will give it a nice shine as well as protect your fingers from the paint. also it may smooth over any rough spots from the spray painting by a little bit. i made an nes deck red for my brother and then glossed it & attached black rocker switches for the buttons. he wouldn't let me do a racing stripe though :(

thats why you get someone who knows how to use spraypaint (or paint in general) to (as rokdcasbah said) put a cupple coats of clear coating so the paint wont come off

PS: ty for all of the good responses (i didnt expect to get so many)

Hey Goemon, if you like it then it's great, it's just something I always sigh a little when I see people doing. I admire your bravery so I hope you enjoy your new BLU++!

Nova: Have your hands washed clean yet?

Seriously guys, it's your GP32, do what you like, that's the nature of the machine, it can be whatever you want it to be, I would always try to talk people out of it, that's all, seems a shame.

Actally long story short, Squidge sent me a blu shell, and i made a hole for the light switch in it. Unfortunately, when replacing all the bits, i spilt superglue on the lightguide so i had to do away with that. Now i have a NLU :(

I wish I was able to get my GP32 to look like this:

But I must admit, you have done a kewl job on yours :)
If you have a backlit unit I suggest you go for it. the FLU is a real pin, so stay away, but the BLU/+ is an easy paint job.
