Regards,

I want to rip the sound of Pinball Action arcade, but the players and tools I know don't support this game, like M1.

One of the players (I don't remember now the name, later I say), have support to others games from Tehkan, I change the xml to load Pinball rom instead of another similiar chip sound game (don't remember name).

This way I have some noise, so I think we no need many changes to play pinball sound, but I cannot compile this src.

Later I put more details about the process.

I need help from someone who can do that player possible.

Thanks.

Note i'm not a programmer, i'm only curious.

Edit: nvm, if it was an actual pinball machine it would be a lot easier...

Hi.

The program I try is:

m1-079a1_vgm

I change the m1.xml, modified the Bomber Jack section to:

<game name="pbaction" board="Bomb Jack">
  <description>Pinball Action (set 1)</description>
  <year>1984</year>
  <manufacturer>Tehkan</manufacturer>
  <m1data default="26" stop="1" min="1" max="32768"/>
  <region type="cpu1" size="65536">
   <rom name="a-e3.bin" size="8192" crc="0e53a91f" sha1="df2827197cd55c3685e5ac8b26c20800623cb932" offset="0"/>
  </region>
 </game>

This, way if I try to play in a bat file:

@m1 pbaction
pause

I ear some noise when try to play the sound, so I think if anyone can modify the driver source code to adapt to Pinball Action sound roms, and compile it, I will apreciate it, and I give a gift to this person.

So i'm managed to record a session of this game with a special modded version of Mame (Mame vgm) available here http://vgm.mdscene.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106

Its  the most recent version of Mame (0.148) modded with abilty of recording (all the sound and music produced during play a game) exported to a .VGM files or .wav files or .AVI files

So it's not a real dump of all the music and sound effects of the roms but can help, maybe loading the wav file on Audacity and cut parts.

Here is how i have done under a Windows machine:

Download Mame0148_vgm and unpack on a dir

open a commando prompt (terminal) and create the mame.ini file that the author has forgotten to add on the package, with

mame.exe -createconfig

now open the new created mame.ini on a text editor and go to section:

#
# CORE STATE/PLAYBACK OPTIONS
#
state
autosave                  0
playback
record
mngwrite
aviwrite
wavwrite
vgmwrite
snapname                  %g/%i
snapsize                  auto
snapview                  internal
burnin                    0

and change with this :

#
# CORE STATE/PLAYBACK OPTIONS
#
state
autosave                  0
playback
record
mngwrite
aviwrite
wavwrite                  1
vgmwrite
snapname                  %g/%i
snapsize                  auto
snapview                  internal
burnin                    0

set vgmwrite to 1 if you want to create a vgm files

set wavwrite to 1 if you want to create wav files

I know that this method do not dump all the effects of the roms but maybe could be usefull.

Somewhat easy after playing around in mame for a bit. Open up any mame on your PC, load pinball action, press tab and go to slider controls. Then turn down the volume for everything except master and play with each channel until you find the sound fx channel. I found the title music minus SFX to be played on ay3-Ch0 while the in game music to be played on ay3-Ch2.
