Hi

I've encoded a movie but it doesn't work when I try to load it with GPCinema.
I always used Moviepark, and encoded with Divx 4.12, now I used Xvid (downloaded driver from entware.com).

I used the all kinds of settings, but none of them work.
Even with everything on low (10fps-8KHz(mono)-50kb/s). I also tried the same settings as the matrix-demo movies from entware.

What am I doing wrong ?

2nd question, Divx 4.12 doesn't appear in VirtualDub anymore. When I reinstall the driver (found on entware.com) it doens't appear.

Some info:
PC: Win98SE, virtualdub 1.5.2, Xvid Koepi's build
Video: 320x176 - 11.988FPS - 12KHz - stereo - 32Kb

you could try a different frequency for your audio, either 11khz or 22khz, not sure if GPCinema supports anything but those two?
you could also try upping your kbps of your video a bit, go for 12fps and about 100kps.

I *think* Xvid only works with GPCinema (I could be completely wrong about this).

Alternatively, it may be due to the version of Xvid you're using. Most people reccommend "koepi's build", an old version of it (Find it here: http://www.entware.co.kr/download/xvid.exe). I've found that - for GPCinema non-free release - the latest version of Xvid works too, with better compression (from here: http://roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml The version you're after is "1.0 final"). To my knowlege, one person has tried this with the free GPCinema and didn't get it to work, so switching to free GPcinema may or may not solve your problem.

You could try using different encoding settings. I use the ones described in this guide: http://www.waystation.mcmail.com/

But I might have a solution to make Virtualdub see DivX 4.12 again. The cause of the problem and its solution are found here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24305. Well, this worked for me when I reinstalled Xvid and couldn't persuade Vdub to list it - sounds the same as the problem you're having.

EDIT: If you download and unzip the latest build of Xvid, it includes a program which sorts out this problem for you. If you don't want to fiddle with your machine's registry yourself, run the program "vidccleaner" (or something like that), click Run and it will sort it out for you. Hope this helps!

My old movies (divx 4.12) work on GPcinema,
but the new movies won't work (Xvid).

I'll use Divx 4.12 when i get that installed...
You can use xvid as well. Check out this guide here.
I was using Xvid, thats my problem.

Problem = Coding with Xvid won't work, but I'll read the faq.
Yeah I was just making sure you know, as i thought others may have made it look like you can only use divx B).

I reinstalled Divx 4.12 (a official driver, not entware driver) and that one works.
I would like to use Xvid though, but that one just doesn't start...

Try using 11.025khz or 22.050khz sound with xvid, I never use oddball frequencies as they tend to cause issues. Try keeping to the standard 44.100khz, 22.050khz and 11.025khz and see what happens.

I used 11Khz and 22KHz, stereo and mono. But they don't work either.
I guess it might have something to do with the Xvid Video settings.
Anyone have a full guide for adjusting settings in Xvid ?

The faq only covers the 'choose 1-pass + 250KB/s'...
