Hello,

GP2X noob here. I've got a cradle for a GP2X (F200) and I'm trying to connect an external HDD to it.

Here's my checklist so far:
  1. AC Adaptor plugged to Cradle
  2. AutoRun and USB Host set to "On" in "System Setting"
  3. External HDD hooked to 1 of the 4 available USB Ports

The problem is nothing shows under "ext" when I try to navigate.
Currently I'm using the default firmware (version 4.0.0).
I've tried all 4 USB Ports, just in case.

The HDD starts spinning/LED turns on when I set USB Host to "On", but no HDD activity.
It looks like the HDD doesn't mount for some reason. I thought it's the HDD, so I've connected
an SD Reader with a 4GB card to test and got the same response (no mounting) :(

What have I missed out ? How can I use the external HDD with the Cradle and GP2X ?

Any tips will help, thanks !

I've not got a external HDD, F200, cradle or firmware 4.00, I've got F100 and a development breakout board.

I tried a card reader and USB sticks and found 2 things:

1) Larger USB sticks don't work - probably because there are no SDHC drivers.
2) In the settings of firmware 2.1.1, under the USB host options is a Storage on/off option - must be on.

A search came up with this don't know if it's relevant

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.
I've tried with a 1TB external HDD and a 2GB SD in a reader and none worked.
The USB Host option is the last option on the Settings screen on my device.
There isn't a Storage on/of option.

When I go to Info I see version 4.0.0 - is that the firmware ? Do I need to upgrade it ?

Thanks again !

Maybe look into some of the newer open2x firmwares instead, compatibility has been phenomenal in some of the latest releases too, so no reason to favor the official firmwares. It makes using my GP2X F200 a happy event as I keep it in a cradle on my desk inbetween my computer and laptop with a joystick hooked up :) Sorry I can't comment about the usb storage stuff, never had the need...
