the thing to remember here is that Skeezix has only ported an existing emulator (CastCE, CaSTaway) which was targetted at a similar system to the GP32 (ARM based PocketPC) so the work involved was reduced.
I'm not taking anything away from Jeff when I say this - he even says it in the readme!

it's a far cry from writting an emualtor from scratch...

So, if there is a similarly easily portable Genesis/Megadrive emu for PocketPC with well written GPL source there might be more interest.

Thanks for the votes of confidence everyone

Really, I'm a very experienced pro developer for a living, so I am pretty good at thigns; but one of the things I am best at is cultivating communities and keeping peopel energized, as you know. The otehr coders are no less talented, but they chose to be more quiet about what they do. Thats okay. I am proud to have whippe dup a frenzy the last few weeks though
*g* Not to brag, but I've also done more emu's from scratch than most

XCade is one of the first arcade emus ever (1994 or 1995; check my FAQ online); I've also written a ZMachine system form scratch, a vic 20 emu from scratch, and worked on NES emulation. I've got about 40 or 60 separate arcade emulations under my belt to date

So in fact, I have been there, done that
But you and everyone are also right... I have too much on the go already (that are falling behind because of my ST obsessions

. I might release a STonX too, since I also ported that, but I'm more fond of Castaway right now

I have to work on my commercial version of XCade (for Palm OS), and work on some Mac OSX commercial products I sell.. these guys pay for my house after all
As to Genesis.. it'd be a waste of time unless the other 3 or 4 are canned. It would be very wasteful of tiem to do it "again", exxcept for the pure fun sake, and Genesis wasn't my thing.. so it woudl be fun in the way all coding is fun, but I woudlnt' give it the commitment it woudl get form someone who really loved the machine, or who had a lot more free time
So I can't do it all, for lack of time. But wehen I do somethign, I tend to "do the hell out of it", since I reall love wehat I do, and I have the luxury to do what I love
I *have* thought about working on DOSBox (an old PC emulation), but Iv'e also told a few other folks to do it, who were looking for projects, and I'd rather they got some fun and spotlight rather than a few of us trying to hog it all
