Most speak of the favorite ones. I thought it would be a twist of discussion to find out Pandora owners least favorite.

Mine is Mupen...Mupen..Mupen and puking Mupen....every bloody last one of them. Regardless of the iteration!!

Isn't that a bit mean for the porters or especially the writers of emulators? It's much work to write such a software, even if you don't like it...

ok IF that is how this thread is seen then please MODERATOR  close this thread?

I did not mean any malice..just thought we all might have an emulator or two we dislike..sorry to offend.

What's so bad about Mupen? Seems pretty clean to me.
Mupen is the only emulator that does not run any game that I've tried at full speed, even with CPU overclocked to 1000 MHz (rebirth edition) and frame skip on. In fact, if any of you guys have managed to get games running at full speed with it, I would love to hear what settings you used.

Because no matter what I attempt to do in the configuration menu I cannot quit this emulator unless I either kill it or hard reset.

So I suppose this thread was a striking back thread so to speak and I  deeply apologize for this  especially after reading Ziz's comment. Added to the fact that Harvest 64 and Conker 64 will not play at all.... but that is just another frivolous ballyhoo I suppose. :D

Wrong intent wrong interpretation ..alas no insult was intended. I do agree with Nixot...to this day I cannot run Goldeneye perfectly on my 1 gig unit. However I really enjoy F-ZERO 64 and Mario Kart 64 even though they run a tad skippy at times..very playable and both are favs..

I really hope there is not a lot of  negative flack for this thread.  Mupen just tends to piss me off sometimes. If it wasn't for a few stellar games it plays I would avoid it all together.

Sorry then--- but had to rant.

I love Mupen for just one reason: Perfect Dark, sure its not perfect, but Still, Perfect Dark in my pocket....  too cool..

Maybe what we mean is least used emulator? or Most annoying emulator?

That's weird. It should just be "P" I think. Works for me. What version of Mupen are you running?

That's a poor reason to call it "the worst" though. By that logic, it wouldn't be a stretch to claim that the Dreamcast emulator (which doesn't even exist) is the worst :p

"Annoying" isn't much nicer than "least favorite" -_-' If you don't like software... Why do you use it? o_O

@WizardStan..The latest version from the repo. I did attempt to scale back to older versions but with no change even after toying with input config. I have exhausted my options and have resigned to killing the beast to be rid of it. I realize this should be an easy fix but ....it's a tizzy for me.     ;)

Yea for me it is Mupen.

This is the reason I have not used my Pandora in forever.  Seems like it should work better, but it doesn't. Shame to as that is a lot of the reason people bought a Pandora.

I thought quit was just Q or ESC or something..

wonder if you have some corrupted appdata config files or something.. purging the directory may help.

Mupen seems to run fine for me, the games I know work well do... The gui is setup better than if you just download the official version from the page.. the Pandora version at least has a frontend and configuration gui preinstalled

I must agree unfortunately... and it appears the Pandora's hardware is a bit weak for this sort of thing. I tested a recent version of mupen64plus ae with glide64 and for the simple natsume intro logo in harvest moon 64 it ran ~5-10FPS @ 950MHz. (Rebirth). My S2 does a nice 30 FPS @ 100% speed and 60FPS @ 250% speed..

I tried purging the entire input directory but no change. Just tried it now and had to hard reset to exit

I have hard reseted 5 times today using --reusing Mupen. It is extremely difficult for me to kill it via Pandora button. The reason being is that the current game screen will not vanish  .

Funny that this is the only emulator I ever had this sort of quirk with. Tried  removing//reloading it 3x but with no luck.

Another mystery......

Tried deleting your appdata directory? Or moving it to somewhere else on the card would be better, I guess; don't want to lose your saves just for a test.

The Pandora Button works fine even if you can't see the pop-up, you just need to hold it for a while, press down on the D-pad to select the program you want to kill(mupen) and then hit enter.

Honestly never had any issues with mupen that required hard-resetting nor couldn't quit with just the normal exit button Q or ESC(forget which).

I did try removing all appdata with the exception of the roms but to no avail. I also tried moving the pnd to my app folder so it may appear on my desktop but again to no avail. Prior it has been in the menu where all my other pnds are that are not shown on my desktop.

I have to say that this is a baffling to say the least. i have been jostling throughout the entire day trying to sort this out. ....not complaining by any means just perplexed  ...The only other option I am going to attempt ..shortly.. will be to place Mupen on a totally different, empty card and see what transpires.

I've no other resources after this. I will report later...........

@TrashyMG....yes I have done so but nothing meaty appears but a brief flashing of the kill option window. No matter how long I hold down the Pandora button....say up to 1 min....seriously. I tried to capture the window  with my stylus like the cat  that is going after a formula 1 racing car on the tele.

Finally I do the hard reset....shut of the tele  ;)

Attempted a new blank card but the same situation. However I have found my 'kill technique' has improved. Rather than manically and dynamically pressing the Pandora button  ,,,i found that gently holding the Pandora button statically works better for the kill.

Arms up in the air with this one {{{{{V}}}}...... and to add insult to injury...both my Pandoras do this with Mupen. Perhaps something might be corrupted on my end?

Maybe a good handwash yes? :p

My "most" favourite emu is the same as my least favourite.  Its my most favourite because it gives me an Oric-1/Atmos in my pocket!   :)

Its my least favourite because it still has some odd bugs that sort of meants not very many people get into it and enjoy the experience.  I need to do something about that ..

So Mupen is the only N64-emulator for our Pandora -> it's the best one! Nothing to complain about.

I can't play hundreds of different games with this emulator but Super Mario and Mario Kart with decent speed? That's fine: 2 games more to play with. Nothing more but also nothing less.
