Last week I was reading an arcticle about a man named Frank Buckles, coincidentally he passed away yesterday. Turns out he was the last surviving U.S. veteran of the first world war (well technically the last one to see action, there are a couple others that were in basic training when the Armistice was signed). Now that he is gone that leaves only two known vets in the entire world, Florence Green of Great Britain and Claude Choules of Australia. Before he died he campaigned for a national memorial for WW1 vets in Washigton and was working on a biography as his life is being made into a movie slated for release this year. Read up on him, he had the kind of life that very few people could even imagine.

Times, they are a-changing. I wonder what it was like when the Civil War veterans all died off.
